Never underestimate the short-sightedness of record execs — even at classical music labels, who you’d think would be a bit more understanding about these things.

Show how the top people in the music industry ALL think: Keep the Gravy Train Rolling! Right to MY station! No stops anywhere else, and let ME set the ticket price. The artists, oh yeah, give them SOMETHING, I guess…..

In case you can’t guess it: No, I haven’t bought a new CD for myself in so long I can’t tell you how long it’s been. And no, I don’t download music, either through a pay service or off the freebies. (With the exception of some offered for free download by “Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie”. I’m a sucker for Canadian humor.) I think the pay services are a very good idea. Selling direct is good for everybody, except the middleman, who in this case gives flatulent vampires a good name. I think that the sucessful artists (The Eagles, McCartneys, and so forth) should get together and form a new musicians’ organization dedicated to creating a new artist-based download industry: A direct download/recording industry, and let the marketplace decide what’s good. God knows, the producers couldn’t buy a clue with all their billions……
