Brick and Mud Oven

Just finished the 3rd batch of bread in the oven and decided to take pix of the finished product.

Cut loaf on another larger loaf.  This is a white/whole wheat mix using sour dough starter, some bread yeast, brown sugar, a couple of cups of 2 % milk, a bit too much salt ;-), and nothing else.  15 minutes of kneeding and 4 hours rising.  Oven wasn’t quite hot enough to do it all.  Should have had another burn but was dark and I was tired.  Will start earlier next time and use less salt…

And the book that started it all:

better pix on the way.

MIT material stops bleeding in seconds - MIT News Office

If this doesn’t have other really bad side effects it will revolutionize surgery.  Article goes into more detail than I have seen elsewhere today.

Contains profanity.  Go, watch, roflyao… ;-)

Back and done

Other than moving the stuff from my old home directory to this one that is.  This thing is a LOT faster than the other one.  Has a faster bus speed for one thing.  Now to run another ethernet cable to the other room so I can get to the files on the old machine.  So close… ;-)

New Linux Box

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

The processor is an AMD Geode(tm) NX  1750+ running at  1394.898 MHz.  Or that’s what the pclos info tool shows.  As far as what kind of machine, it’s a damn if I know. ;-)

Seems to be a no name assembled with assorted parts, mouse and keyboard are Harmony multimedia products.

It just finished reformatting the hard drive and installing PCLOS on it.  Now for configuring.  Back when I am running from the hard drive.

PCLinuxOS: Downloads

Just finished downloading BigDaddy 0.93a and am burning it to cd now.  Have a new computer with XP home just itching to be removed from it that I am gonna use in place with this one.  Not quite state of the art but at 1.5 ghz is better than the 1 ghz that the one I am now on.  The new one has 512 mb memory so will upgrade that a bit.  Also has a built in dvd burner.  May have to add a cd burner, will see if the dvd will also do the cds first though.  80 gb hard drive.  Onboard video though also has a video card slot.  May move my present card depending on how it does.
Just finished burning and is checking now.  Closer and closer to bye-bye XP. ;-)

Group Warns Of More Junk E-mail - International Business Times -

Judges that sit on this kind of case need to be at least a little tech savvy.  Obviously this one wasn’t and isn’t.  And e360insight sends out massive amounts of unsolisited email which in my book that makes them a spammer.  This ruling needs to be overturned.

Techdirt: Diebold Machine Didn’t Count Votes, But Diebold Says Not To Worry: They Can Tell You The Actual Vote Totals

Paper and pencil or pen doesn’t have this problem.    Just a pain to count.  But there IS a trail there unlike the electronic machines.  Now we get to watch yet another election get stolen thanks to Diebold and the asshats in power.  I still say lets vote them ALL out and start over!
