The Temas Blog » More Construction with PET Bottles

Good idea!  Fill the bottles with sand and use as bricks or blocks using cement as the binding agent.

Good blog too.  Now on my feedreader.

Thanks for the mention and the kind words about my blog. I hope you visit often and feel free to comment. Input welcome!

BTW, did you also see the prior “PET house” article, about the one in Brazil?

I’ll be posting another soon about a new Brazilian idea, bricks made with PET bottles.

    Best Regards,

Like the site and the articles. Love the idea of the PET buildings. And yes I did see the other article on the building in Brasil. Good stuff!

I have been using bottles and cans (aluminum and recycleable so am not using cans any more) for building in conjuction with timber/pole frame construction for a couple of years now and the biggest problem I have run into is the number of bottles/cans that it takes to fill in an area. With the 2 liter bottles it looks like it would take 1/4 to 1/6 the number to fill the same area which also means the additional savings in cement and labor. Will have to try a test wall soon. Wonder how the sand filled PET bottles would work using cob instead of cement/concrete as a binder/finish?
