Home Composting Made Easy (TreeHugger)
Interesting method of composting kitchen scraps. Makes me want to build that kiln, start digging clay and build a potters wheel. After the heat breaks I may just do so. Been wanting to/talking about it for years and at this age if I’m gonna I best get started.
Absolute Home
Think I will give this a try on an old machine and see how it does. Still waiting on the spirit to move me to reinstall/repair the PCLOS install on my main linux machine but with the heat making outside or anywhere except in airconditioning unavailable to me, may take a while tomorrow afternoon and play with another os/machine.
EcoGeek of the Week: Ron Hochstetler on Airships (TreeHugger)
Interesting read. I think that airships (using todays materials technology and a nonflammable gas for lift) are a viable alternative to conventional transport. And they don’t require roads or tracks to get the product/passengers to the destination. Cool stuff!
Boing Boing: Boycott Regal Cinemas for suing over 20-second clip
AMEN! And then fire the management after requiring them to publicly apologize! This is total and absolute bullsh!t…

Wonderful work! I love the goggles! Too cool! Too many !!! points. Too late in the evening…

Adblock Plus :: Firefox Add-ons
If you run Mozilla (and you really should be doing so) this add-on is a MUST! If you want to escape from all the damn moving pictures and flash adds out there anyway… 😉
MCG News: Natural signal holds promise for psoriasis, age-related skin damage
And another article from the same college with a different slant. Wonder what effects combining the two lines of research would have?
And yes, I am inside in the cool playing on the computer instead of outside doing ANYTHING in this heat.
MCG News: Green tea holds promise as new treatment for inflammatory skin diseases
Here’s a link to the actual article quoted in the previous post. Seems to be almost the same.
Green tea holds promise as new treatment for inflammatory skin diseases
An interesting bit of info. Gonna have to try using it as a topical and see if it helps. The article mentions the water not getting into the cells, wonder if alcohol would work as a vehicle to get it into the skin?
Wenger, North America – Wenger Giant Swiss Army Knifeâ„¢ V1.0
Now THAT’S a Swiss Army Knife Maximus! Not that its useful for anything but as a collectible. Nonetheless I still lust after it. Not that I would even consider it at $1200.00 us. Implements and functions list after the fold…

Grand Designs – The Cambridgeshire Eco Home from Channel4.com/4Homes
A right interesting house. I really like the oak tree trunk stairway. Strawbale wall insulation is nice too. Well done and done well!
*update – The video is a really artsie fartsie bit of fluff. It does show a few things that are not in the picture gallery but really isn’t worth the time if you (like me, have a mac) have to download a 7.5 mb player and reboot the machine just to be able to view it.
Stay or go? Do you read your insult in the sidebar? Does it piss you off or make you chuckle? Do you even see it? Me wants to know… 😉
KINGSMERE CRAFTS
Lot of good info related to leather craft on this site. Good stuff!
Homesteading Today – Simple sawmill setup
The pix below are from the 4th post down and are owned by the poster. Reproduced here for my use only. This is the simplest setup I have seen for a stable, easy to operate, sawmill. I have bits and pieces of a sawmill and a chainsaw with Alaskan mill (actually seems to be based on the Alaskan mill design rather than actually using one) that I may use to build something similar. Cool!

Update Dec 31, 2008 – Here’s a link to fluidp’s post on his site about the sawmill. Thanks for commenting and helping folks with it. Have been somewhat (quite) lax about doing stuff on the site for a long time now. Will try to do better… 😉
