It was a Friday indeed. Mostly worked on getting new tablet PCs gong, but had a couple of quick "call outs" to fix some things in a timely fashion. Went OK, all told.

Today I was doing some long-delayed (procrastinated?) computer chores here at home when someone called and I got to go help figure out sound configurations in Vista. What fun. Think I found the important things, and the person using it should be able to just "dial-in" the settings--something they don't need me for. Picked up a dead PC to check out--the one that was replaced by the new Vista machine. The new machine was nice--Athlon 64 X 2 4800, 3 GB of RAM, 500 GB HD, DVD burner, 22" wide-screen LCD (nice display!) and they had 70W RMS 5.1 speakers. Vista Home Premium, so stick a tuner card in it and record TV. If only it wasn't Vista.

Something I DIDN'T get done before I left was figure out how to configure PCLinuxOS the way I want to. Gonna have to find some commands, I guess. Well, actually I DID find a list of commands in the Help section before I left, but did not have time to do anything with it. Need an updated video driver (will only do 800 X 600 at 43 Hz--43 Hz?) and even with 1280 MB of RAM certain things are kinda slow, which I think are video related. Tried to play a DVD, and Kaffeine gave me an error. Got to play some more...

Well, from the smell, the "Brats-in-a-blanket" are getting done--better go check...
