Monday here and there

Went out this am to get the bills paid for another month. Did so with a stop at the Salvation Army thrift store where many books were examined and far too many purchased. Quite a few first editions in good condition there today. After a couple of additional stops to hand over money for insurance and another month of electricity we turned south and were shortly in Munford. Saw a small antique store that was open and stopped. Picked up a couple of pieces of cast iron at rather low prices and as we were leaving asked about a flat earth/rock tamper that I think she had been using as a door prop. She said it was for sale and at the price it too came with us. We then proceeded to Talladega and managed to get completely lost for quite some time. Saw a lot of the wrong side of town that I had no idea existed. Finally extracted ourselves, located the highway and returned by a roundabout way. The remainder of the day has been spent mostly asleep as by the time we got back I was not feeling well at all. Still not doing too good but better I think. Getting this done early as I am going to lay back down and read for a bit and most likely doze back off for the evening. Till the morrow…

Sounds like an interesting day. I did a little of this and that, installing programs and printers, primarily, with a side-trip to very-downtown Anniston (just around Hot Shot Curve) to deliver the dryer for repair–it quit heating. Yes, I’m aware it is probably the thermal switch/fuse (whatever the nomeclature is–the switch that keeps the machine from catching fire when something causes too much heat build-up) but I didn’t really feel like taking the thing apart, VOMing the switch, and THEN hunting up a switch–assuming it wasn’t something else. The guy I got it from gave a “pay for the parts” warranty, so I took him up on it. Talked like it would be done quick, and I hope so–gonna need to wash/dry some clothes no later than tomorrow night or Bad Smells will occur….more than usual, that is. 😎

Now I’m trying to finish up a PC (installing fun stuff like Works–Yikes!) and re-ripping some of my CDs–the original rips got lost in a hard drive failure. Going with a higher bit-rate this time. And RIAA, kiss my ass. I BOUGHT this music, and I can shift it to another player, so there! Hell, a couple of these albums (Dan Fogelberg) I have purchased on vinyl, cassette, AND CD. Dan, God rest his soul, got his money from ME, I’m proud to say. And so did the record companies, which I am somewhat less happy about, considering their actions of the last few years…

Well, gotta go and be productive, hopefully….
