For now think I am gonna call it a night, so till later folks…

Will see about getting a bigger tub so the larger files can lie down in it and cleaning the rest of the really rusty/dull ones.

will need sharpening. Put one small points file in just to see how it would clean up and seems to be sharper than new. ???

Did not really expect it to be usable but seems to be mostly undamaged now that the rust is gone. Most of the drill bits are ok other than

Some stuff is done, whereas some is due for more cleaning/brushing. Got the Jacobs chuck cleaned off and after a bit of oil working again.

So dipped it out of the nasty solution and started scrubbing with the brass brush. Got it much cleaner than it was at the very least.

Cooking supper and after eating gonna see how much more I can get done on the clock spring winder.

Another long day in Piedmont. Today with almost no customers. Which wasn’t really a surprise with all of the rain last night and today.

And is MUCH too late for me to be up with having to be in Piedmont to open the store at 9 am, so till tomorrow folks…

Just finished turning the shaft for the main spring winder. Still got issues with the lathe but am getting closer to being able to work.

Why Evangelicals Hate Jesus http://huff.to/gJEwWb via @huffingtonpost SOOOOOOO true…

Got the first piece turned down to size for the main spring winder I’m building. Lathe worked great! Need to cut some wooden pieces next.

Had put it together before with just 2 of the larger ones and there was a bit of a bump when it went around the pulleys. Tis all smooth now.

Adjusted the tension and it all works again. Actually better than the old belt has in a while. And I like the smaller ties better too.

Used the 4 slot lacing punch on both ends and put it together with the smallest zip ties I had. Tightened the ties up and cut them off.

Dug out the strip and strap cutter, adjusted the blade and width and cut the old belt down and made a new one for the lathe.

Piedmont as it had no buckle and was personalized to “Eddie”, and I knew the one on the lathe was close to going. Found the leather tools.

Other stuff won. Had broken the belt on the lathe earlier while working on the chuck, so found an old leather belt we had brought home from

Lunch done. Fire built. Trying to decide if nap is necessary or if I have the energy to get some other stuff done. So far nap is wining…

time back that I cut apart and can modify to use at the head stock. Where shaft goes through the bushing is scored, but should turn down ok.

Now I can at least make the tools and a smaller lathe to work on the clock stuff with. Got a Dremal flexible hand piece that froze up some

At least with the existing chuck. This is the large one, as the smaller one I was trying to get working was between 7+ out. Way too much.

Well after about 3 hours of work on the lathe, this morning, got it within a couple of thousandths. Guess that will have to be good enough.

For now am gonna call it a night, so till tomorrow folks…

Planning on making a trip to Pell City tomorrow to see the clock master at Landis Antique Mall to pick up some stuff he has for me.

Now have a rough idea of the bushings I will need to get it back to where it will run without problems for another few years.

Got the callipers out and measured the plates and pivots, then used Google to translate the inch measurements to metric.

Took pix at each gear removal. Then after cooking and eating supper put it back together without looking at the pix. 🙂

Got the living room cleared enough to move a table in to work on. Moved a few tools in and after taking pix took the Ingraham clock apart.

With a bit of work. With a lot more work could make a lot more off of it but am not sure it would be worth the time or effort.

Bought a Hoosier cabinet today while on the way back from lunch. Think I paid too much but should be able to get money back and then some.

Home early for a change. But was still a long day in Piedmont. Gonna be off tomorrow to do some stuff that needs a weekday off to get done.

Power back on after the storms this afternoon. Took trees and power lines down up the road from us. No damage here that I know of.
