Spammer for god or his own pocket?

By , May 24, 2005 10:19 pm

Just got the following email from someone who seems to be spamming for God or at least trying to line his own pockets by spamming in the name of God… My comments are in Bold

Hello Again,

This is Bob Omitted with Omitted.

I was searching through Google.com, and found you at the website.

Which one? Don’t think you did as my email address isn’t on a church site that I am aware of. Could you be using a spammer’s list?

I previously introduced myself to you and offered my services
to your Church or Ministry.

Good try but I don’t think so. Bet you learned that line in spammer skool.

I am in the business of helping Ministries move to the Internet,
or go further than they already are now in their web presence.

Sounds like you are in the business of moving money from others pockets to your own. But I’m sure there is a market there. Just a spammer for god…

My specialty is helping Ministries to send email to their
readership, members and web mailing list members. Many Churches &
Ministries call this a Monthly Newsletter.

If the folks are actually subscribed that is what it’s called. Most other folks call it SPAM.

I have automated mailing systems that I use to mail.

Spam software?

I use my own servers and software and have the expertise to help
you to launch or further your Internet Based Ministry Presence.

I offer reasonable fees so I can assist as many of you that want
to reach your members, readers and even the lost.

$$$ in the bank eh? Note the “even the lost”. Now if they are subscribed to the newsletter they wouldn’t be lost would they. So you must be sending this stuff to folks other than ones on the list. Like me…

I offer these services:

– Automated Email Sending (CanSpam compliant)
– Website Building and Programming
– Website Hosting and Search Engine Optimization
– Almost anything Internet Related

I work with another Ministry that sends out a daily devotion
every Mon. – Fri. They have grown from 3,000 to 34,000 readers in
2 years using my system.

Thanks for reading and if I can offer my services to you,
Please call me or email me and I will call you back.

If we are working together now and I am resending this to you,
please forgive me. If you have a question or are waiting for a
reply, this can serve as a reminder!

Thanks and God Bless,
Bob Omitted

Didn’t want to hear from you the first time and see no reason to have to click a link to never hear from you again so am adding this and any further missives from you to my blog so I can help you further your “SPAM ministry”.

“I don’t want [Maher] prosecuted,” Bacchus said. “I just want him off the air.”

No voice against the war can be heard without a Republican jumping up and down and screaming we need MORE censorship. Our (the us of a) founding fathers would be up in arms against this pitiful excuse of an administration, were they or their sprit still with us today. Nuff said…

Job’s attitude on this sucks!

As the loyal reader(s?) may know, I tend to vote with my money, so when news of this first came out I backed off on any new mac related purchases till it was settled.

Still not buying any new mac related stuff due to the Job’s attitude zone. Had bought 2 new iBooks in the year previous too. No Tiger for me yet and maybe never. Still trying to make up my mind on this one. Could be I break down and buy a copy or I may just switch back to linux.

I really do like the design of OS X but I despise the course that Apple Legal has taken in the past few months. Enough rambling I guess. Just pisses me off to be mired in the IP wars yet again…

I expect this site to get /.ed real quick.

This is both interesting and really weird at the same time. The one question I keep asking though is: Why?

Will we be more secure — or just less competitive — if the government forces hundreds of thousands of international science students to get export licenses simply to look through a microscope?

And in little dribbles and drops freedom is is taken away without most folks even noticing it happen. All in the name of Security…
