Thanks for the heads-up Graham. What a dick! Guess I’ll quit reading Engadget too. Lately it doesn’t seem to be much but a rehash of Gizmodo anyway.

Backup Brain
“Thought of the day

You’re a Mac geek, so you’re planning on buying Tiger as soon as it’s available Friday, right? Even though your current Mac is a little old because you haven’t been able to afford a better one, you’re going to upgrade its OS.
If that’s you, wait a second, and think about it this way: if you buy just Tiger, its list price is $129. But if (after Friday) you buy a Mac mini instead, it’s $499 — which means that you’re really only paying $370 for the mini.
Think about that for a second: $370 for a Mac. Does anyone still say that Macs are too expensive?”

I like Dori’s math!

Gas prices are no problem with truck that burns wood

Cool!

Downloaded a pdf the other day detailing the construction of a system to do this. Looks interesting. Gonna look into it for a stationary engine to drive a generator and produce hot water for both domestic and heating. Don’t see it as a viable alternative for general car usage. Farm tractors are another story. Figure with as much dead wood as I have to deal with every year I may as well get something out of it.

MoCo Loco: Wall Wave

Cool! Wonder if I can do something similar with old books? Would need to use an adhesive that would not fill up all the little pores in the paper that would help with the sound absorption. Maybe just starch or something along those lines. Something to think on seeing how I keep adding to the collection of non salable books.
