Panasonic Electric Rug Might Save A Lot of Energy (TreeHugger)

I’d like to try one of these. It makes a LOT of sense as if the feet are warm the rest of the body will be at least a lot warmer. Guess we will have to wait and see if they release it in the US or if it will be a Japanese only product.

Man’s Best Friend: ‘The Device’ – All-In-One Beer Making Machine – Gizmodo

It looks impressive and from the article was rather expensive to build but I personally don’t see wasting all the time and energy on something that is gonna have to be taken apart and cleaned on a regular basis. Or maybe there is an auto clean function here that I missed. Whatever turns their cranks and knobs…

Power Your TV, Cell Phone, or Laptop by Pedaling (TreeHugger)

Whereas the video of him playing the video game isn’t that thrilling, the concept that he proves will work with is rather interesting.

The high speed start up is what keeps me from using an old stationary bike for this. Problem is the wheel is too small. Could use a smaller pulley on the alternator. May look and see if a knerled sleeve would fit over the alternator shaft where the pulley mounts and try for a spring loaded drive right off the wheel. That might get the speed up enough to self energize. Will have to do some math and see how close I can come that way.

Electric Bike: iZip Express Cycle Transforms Weak Legs into Armstrongs – Gizmodo

Interesting piece of hardware. Like the specs, but with the parts they mention I suspect the price will be somewhere over a a thousand and possibly closer to two.

Handcrafted Wonder: 1873 Monocycle Replica Is a Mechanical and Engineering Marvel – Gizmodo

Quite an interesting device. Wish there was some more detailed information on it. Would like to know what the brass can is for that is located just to the left of the handle bars in the picture below. Water or oil or what? The artist did a hell of a job on this piece of machine work. Verrrrry nice!

Wenger, North America – Wenger Giant Swiss Army Knifeâ„¢ V1.0

Now THAT’S a Swiss Army Knife Maximus! Not that its useful for anything but as a collectible. Nonetheless I still lust after it. Not that I would even consider it at $1200.00 us. Implements and functions list after the fold…

Zonbu: Green doesn’t have to make you Blue!

Steve pointed me to this new computer and while it looks interesting there are several things I wonder about.

First and foremost, what happens when the company goes under or their servers go down?

In their info limited site they say that it has a state of the art OS that is immune to virii they never say what kind of OS it is. The office productivity suite is the Sun Open Office package.

On board storage is 4 gb (i think) which is not much OS wise these days.

Price isn’t bad and the subscription pricing for online storage and OS updates is not out of sight either.

However interested I might be I wouldn’t bite unless I could use my own network storage and they don’t say anything about that in the site. Or at least I couldn’t find it. I wish them luck.

Some strange stuff on this site. The earbud horns are interesting but the park planters are just plain weird. Note (over 18 please) the one with the guy getting a blowjob at the far right of the screen after going to the planter page.

Interesting concept. From what is posted in the comments the efficiency is way on up there for the amount of air it moves. Cool! in more ways than one. 😉

Now this is just awesome as hell! I love it and want to build one! Won’t copy this but gonna have to see just what I can do as far as using stuff that is collecting dust and rust in the storage buildings and barn to turn my existing system into a thing of beauty somewhat along these lines.

Neat bikes! Love the on demand 2 wheel drive. Specs say a 5 gal tank but no info on mpg. 40 hp out of less than 800 cc so about the same hp per cc as the small front wheel drive cars. Price doesn’t seem bad either. Wonder if there is a dealer around this neck of the woods? Not that I am in the market but would like to look at one none the less.
