Helped reset several booths with additional shelving that we moved out of the back room where it had been stored. Getting closer.

Got the last of the lights installed in our booth and in the outside shed area. Arranged the stuff in the back room so it’s usable too.

Go to talk to Cat’s aunt about her pump which needs replacing and come back to nice hot water. And we were then homeward bound.

After digging through the stuff I brought I found 2 short pieces of wire and 2 wire nuts! Get it wired, water back on, and no leaks!

By , February 20, 2013 3:28 am

Which makes the wires that are foamed into the case an inch too short to reach the screws.

Buck and a half later we are on the way back. Get the old one out and the new one in to find the new temp control is an inch shorter.

I decide to head back and try the big pliers but on the way we stop at a junk store and find a wrench after they tell us they no got!

By , February 20, 2013 3:24 am

Someone there suggests Tractor Supply which I doubted would have one but as is only a couple of miles away we try. Again no joy…

Guy there suggested WW so headed toward B’ham on 280 to the nearest WW which was 11 miles away. Get there and no joy.

Went to Harpersville to get an element, temp control and element wrench. Got the first 2 but they didn’t carry the wrench.

Got it timed and think it will work. Now to start the clock, set the time, and see how far out of time it is in the morning.

Managed to sneak the assembly out, find a piece of wire the right diameter, heat it up, hammer the end flat, make bends and reinstall it.

By , February 16, 2013 3:10 am

Then will have to make a new drop lever and install it in the post. Just another day repairing old (greater than 100 year) clocks…

By , February 16, 2013 2:04 am

Found the drop lever to the count wheel has a fracture in it. :-( Now to take that arm assembly out which may require complete disassembly.

Thought I had the clock done and ready to test. Then noted it wasn’t doing the warn before strike at the right time. Did more checking.
