every time it hard freezes it's after waking from a sleep. sometimes will be happen as soon as i wake it. other times i can do something and then go to do something else and it freezes. wonder if it depends on which application is in front when the freeze happens? i usually leave it on and just close the lid. but since the security update it has been freezing most times when i open it. so i have started to use the sleep from the menu and it happens less often. but still 1 in 4 times of putting it to sleep i loose the gamble. not good odds. and certainly not what i spent 1500 bucks to have happen. will try to note which app is frontmost when it happens from now on.
what i want in blog software.
blosxom like control over my own files. save in a folder. to make a new topic add a new folder.
but i want the posting as easy as tis with livejournal and Xjournal on mac.
guess i can use blapp and figure out the ssh login automatically problem. i don't understand the key thingies. and don't know i want to have to study several different programs to figure out how to connect automatically when with all the other programs i just use my user name and password and it does the deed.
guess apple script may allow me to do it. again will see.
seems like if i don't save before i post it's gone. i don't like that. at all.
that entry got posted but not saved as i had set it to auto. guess i will have to look more. or the save local option is no longer there. will try posting this and see.
just checked and there was an update to Xjournal, so downloaded, then closed it out, replaced and relaunched it. of all the things i like about the mac, the one I like the most is installing and removing programs. download, move to proper folder, usually applications, and start using. wonderful!
there is a new save option on post which is good. was irritating to be asked every time. so far so good with the update. will see in when i post.
betha is on the road again. or somewhat anyway. engine is still missing on one cylinder but running pretty good otherwise. took it over to my folks this morning to get my father to listen to it. he leans toward a stuck or bent valve. stuck is his primary feeling/thought. may be what bent the pushrod in the first place. good chance anyway. going to try his suggestion on measuring the valve ends to see if one is lower than another. then oil and hammer time.
too hot to do anything right now. guess i could start cleaning and organizing things inside. just not up to anything right now.
just had yet another case of it going to sleep (me clicking the sleep command in the apple menu) and not being able to wake it. so lost yet another post that was half completed and not saved. guess i need to save each and everything before putting it to sleep. worked fine till the last update now does this about 1 out of 4 times i put it to sleep.

hunter archive is interesting.
looks like i am going to have to do a valve job on the engine in bertha. still got a dead miss in one or two cylinders at low rpms. my guess with the bent push rod is a bent valve also. so… gasket set is gonna run me another 75 or so. guess that is what i need to do. may as well go and see rog in the morning and see what all he has in stock.
head gasket set
intake manifold gasket set
water temp sensor
push rod(s)
oil
filter
cleaning disks ck price
will know more when i get them off.
trying to get my shit back in order… as it were. out under the awning this morning. looks like rain may come in so guess i need to go and do while i can. will try to get back to this soon.
and afternoon under the awning. tis after 1 now. been working on bertha. got the carb removed, intake polished, studs locked back in place and carb reinstalled. tightened the intake manifold bolts down too. replaced 2 plugs. again. 1 and 2 are still not burning right. wondering more and more about just gettiing an intake manifold gasket kit and pulling, cleaning and reinstalling it. tis still not running right and it seems like a vacuum leak as it runs fine at higher speeds. of course it could be that carb. have rebuilt it but could have missed something. seems like i do a lot of the time lately anyway. ah well
got the motor mount nuts reinstalled. forgot to put lock washers on. may remove them and do it right or may wait till i do the bushings. gonna have to jack it up for that. really need a pad to work on. little at a time i guess is the only way i will get it done. oh well. life goes on. for some of us.
