New Scientist Breaking News – ‘Singing’ wings help prevent small-plane stalls

The use of sound to increase the adhesiveness of the wings surface to air. Novel concept.

But can you see the effect if the amp(s) goes out while in low speed mode? Especially if they reduce the size of the wings the full 20+%. Need to make it mechanical and built as an inverse(?) harmonic of wind speed so the vibration increases as surface airflow decreases.

Quite an interesting concept. Makes me suspect some of the buzz produced by insect wings in hover mode are a variant of this concept.

The Onion | Evangelical Scientists Refute Gravity With New ‘Intelligent Falling’ Theory

Now I am not too sure about the veracity of anything I read on the Onion. So this must be taken with a quite a bit of salt but if it is even close to serious there is a MAJOR problem with this religious scientific movement’s logic.

But then we also have the Cat-licks run by that dude with the big hat over in the Vacuum, and they been around and suppressing logical scientific thought for going on what? 12 to 1500 years… 😉

New Scientist News – Climate warning as Siberia melts

Ah! More of the news that I am tempted more and more each day to quit reading.

So as the peat bogs continue thawing the peat will release more and more methane into the atmosphere from an area the size of france and germany put together.

And here we’ve been worrying about methane release of a few cow farts… 🙁

Fossil Fuels May Decrease Earth’s Natural Capacity to Store Carbon

And for more good news on the enviromental front. 🙁
It looks like its gonna get hotter quicker than previously calculated due to the increase in carbon dioxide emission it now seems that the earth isn’t absorbing it as well as it used do.

From the article-

“Their major finding was an inverse relationship between the rate at which carbon dioxide is emitted from the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas, and the capacity of land and ocean to absorb that carbon dioxide: the faster the emissions, the less effective were the carbon sinks. “

Hurricanes growing fiercer with global warming

Stands to reason. The warmer it is the more moisture in the air. The moister the air the less resistance lost to friction.

But Albert E ain’t worried bout no global warming…

New Scientist Breaking News – ‘Pig disease’ may be spreading between humans
Vaccines to combat a deadly pig-borne disease were flown to south-western China on Sunday, where the spread of the rare illness has already killed 36 people and infected 198. The unusually high numbers of people infected by the swine disease has led scientists to speculate that it may be being spread from human-to-human – or that another disease entirely is to blame.

I was wondering how long it would take as virulent as it seems to be at least from what scanty reports that I have seen. The initial 19 (?) had no contact with each other and now there are this many more.

Something wicked this way comes…
