Think it’s time for a cup of tea and then bed. Been a long day and was tired when I got up this morning. Much more so now.

Then will separate the sell stuff into Valley, Pell City, flea market, and yard sale piles. That’ll determine were it gets stored.

Way too many. Figure on trying to get 3 or 4 a week till it’s all moved. Most of the rest is coming here to be separated into keep and sell.

Got a load of stuff from Piedmont today. Took part of it to Valley. Will take the rest to Pell City tomorrow. No idea how many loads left.

Most likely a trip to Piedmont is going to be one of them. Still have way too much stuff up there than has got to come this way.

Not sure what the morrow is gonna bring. Several things need doing. Just need to decide which will take precedence.

Delivered the Sessions clock today. Happy customer! Sot a few more things done at Valley Antiques. Still more that have to be done soon.

Made 4 taper pins to hold face on. Figured out a better way to cut them with drill & file. Then made another much smaller one for the hands.

Took crutch rod and verge back out of the clock. Reshaped suspension rod slot on crutch and sanded suspension rod. Much quieter now. 😉

Late arising today. Got the fire restarted in the heater, and breakfast about ready. Trying to figure out the rest of the day.

And I have had about as much fun as I can take for one day. So i think I am gonna call it a night. Till later, folks… 😉

Thanks to baking soda, vinegar, boiling water, and a plunger the kitchen sink drain is now working again.

Only problem I have with it is that it took me this many years to figure it out…

With this trick I have MANY more from all those assortments I have bought over the years, that will now fit.

Put them in and reassembled everything. Water is back on and no dripping. 😉

Took 2 of the ones I had and put them on a screw with a nut on each side clamping them together. Ground the outside edge down to fit.

Went to change out the faucet washers in the kitchen sink, but was out of the right size.

Really need to make a taper pin for the hands too. It’s got to be quite a bit smaller in diameter so will use some brass wire for stock.

Tis ticking merrily away. Got 4 more taper pins to make but they hold the face on and can wait till another day.

Cleaned it all up again and put the bits back together. Filed a brass rod into 4 taper pins. Applied nano oil. Put it back in the case.

Cooked and ate supper. Came back in here, looked at the clock and started in on it. Polished the pivots, broached the bushings.

Which I guess I need to get in the kitchen and start on.

Don’t know if I’ll get it finished tonight or not. Am about done in now and still have supper to figure out and fix. 🙁

Next up is to polish the pivots. Spent an hour earlier getting the verge pallets back in shape and the escape wheel teeth cleaned up.

Took the Sessions clock out there for the owner to pick up. Working on a Vienna style Regulator now. Got all the bits cleaned.

Just back from Valley Antiques. Sold a couple of things while out there that wouldn’t have sold otherwise. Guess I need to be there more.

Got it on the shelf running and it’s somewhere close to keeping time. Will see how it is in the morning. For now am gonna call it a night.

Have another 4 1/2 hours in it the other day taking it apart, burnishing & polishing the pivots. Now to get it adjusted & back to the owner.

Ended up working on the Sessions clock from about 9 am to 10 pm today. Lotta down time doing other things in there but still was a long day.

Must admit that the 62 pictures I took of the tear down really helped in the reassembly. I think I could have done it without them but…

And since I have just done this one, and have the teardown/reassembly fresh in mind,I think I’ll do mine next.

Went ahead and oiled it and am going to put it back in the case after supper. Turns out it’s the same movement as my grandmothers clock.

Ended up installing another bushing after looking at them all again. Got it back together and it’s running on the test bench now.

Got the 4 bushings installed in the Sessons clock. Now to clean the other bushings, reassemble all of the bits, and test.

Having a very stupid day. Keep looking at the springs & gears in this clock & not being able to get my head wrapped around how they go. 🙁

Been an at home day. Spent most of it working on stuff, some inside and some outside. Has been very restful to not have had to go anywhere.

As well as it’s running I think that should get it going for quite a few more years. Tis late and I think I’m rambling so till later folks.

Put it in the clock and it’s working nicely. Next thing on that one (Sessions mantle clock) is to install a couple of bushings.

Helped a couple of other dealers with some stuff and then came home. Made a new suspension spring for another clock when I got here.

Went to the mall about 1 and ended up spending the whole day there. Did some repair on a cabinet door, and worked in the booth a bit.

There is one wheel that has some damage from a previous repair that I’m trying to decide if I want to fix or let it go as is still working.

After 3 adjustments it’s close to keeping correct time. Will take it back apart in the next day or 2 and do a full clean, polish and lube.

Put it back in the case and with less trouble than I had figured on got the pendulum aligned and it all ticking away.

First time in the wrong direction so took it back out and did it all over again. Reassembled the clock mechanism with only a few problems.

Fired up the rotary tool with a pointed stone in it and shaped the hole a bit. Rewound the spring and got it back in it’s barrel.

Twas a day. Made it through and got a few things done. Trimmed the end of a broken clock spring and punched a new hole in it.

Then to WW for a few provisions and then home. Warmed leftovers once here and been browsing since. Am about done in so till later folks…

Twas quite wet by then so we headed back homeward. Stopped at Valley to put out a new piece of glass and do some rearranging of a case.

Found a few things we had to have and then the clock guy got back from lunch so I went and we talked bit and I picked up a few things.

Got their chicken & bacon melt footlong and split it for what less food would have cost at the fish place. Then went to Landus Antique Mall.

Bought them and headed for lunch just after 1. Checked the deals at the fish place but they have gone up way too much so went on to Subway.

Made it to Treasure Chest around 11, got the stuff unloaded, unpacked, & on the shelves by about 12:30. Found a few things we had to have.

Finished the wall hanging carving today. The wax worked very well. Finished off with a nice shine with very little rubbing.

Even if the clocks I have out there don’t sell at least they are bringing in business. Have another bed foot board and a cabinet to fix too.

Getting the booth organized a bit better. Figure it will take another couple of weeks at the very least. Got another clock in for repair.

Another long day at Valley. Got some stuff done. Cat got a lot packed up to go to Treasure Chest in Pell City. Thinning stuff out a bit.

Once that’s done should be good for another 20+ years. Time for bed so till later folks… 😉

Put one from another clock in it to check it out and it works fine. Got a couple of bushings to replace and a full clean and lube.

Got another day at Valley tomorrow. Got a Sessions tambor mantel clock in for repair today. Got to order a suspension spring for it.

Tested it on a wooden clothes pin and it looks pretty good. Will test it on a couple of other pieces prior to using it on the wall carving.

Mixed bees wax, lemon oil, and shortening. Heated in a bowl of water in the microwave till it all melted, stirred it up, and let it cool.

Restained and tinted it and got it looking pretty good. Looked for paste wax at WW after work but no joy so after supper made my own.

Made it through the day at Valley today without too many problems. Repaired a wall carving that was damaged by the tornado last year.

Gonna try to get a truckload of stock loaded and ready to head out first thing Saturday morning without having to make a Piedmont run first.

Left it there to unpack Saturday when we get down that way. Got to work at Valley Thrusday and Friday.

Finally got all the shelving up, started unpacking all the bits & pieces & pricing/marking things. Got all but one tote done by closing.

Got to the Treasure Chest a bit after 2 and got started. Ended up having to add a brace between 2 walls to put in the shelving I wanted.

Made it to Piedmont and got a load of shelving and some stuff to go on them. Stopped at Valley on the the way through and ate lunch.

First gotta load some stuff from here and then breakfast. So till later, folks… 😉

Tis morn and I am not ready to be awake. But awake I am so guess it’s time to head to Piedmont and then points west and south.

What the hell, think I’ll see how soon I can hit 5000. 😉

Tis certainly a whole lotta blather about nothing much.

Hadn’t noticed till just now but my previous tweet was #4000. Methinks I might be tweeting a bit too much/often… 😉

Only problem is that from here to Piedmont to Pell City to here is about 114 miles. 🙁 Hope to cut the Piedmont leg of the trip out soon.

Need to drop a some things off & pick up some things to take to the new booth. Get the feeling we’re gonna be doing this a lot for a while.

Tomorrow promises to be a long day too. Gonna head to Piedmont to get a truckload & then head to Pell City with a stop at Valley on the way.

Took the stuff in and ended up selling a fair amount of it to another dealer before putting it into stock. Priced the rest and headed home.

Left out about 4:30 after buying way too much stuff. Got back to Valley a couple of minutes after 5.

Unloaded shelves and a few pieces from the truck and set as much of the booth up as we had stuff to work with. Then did a bit of shopping.

Finally got on the road to Pell City about 1:30. Made it to the Treasure Chest about 2:15 and after talking to the manager took a booth.

Moved some other stuff around. Made a couple of sales. Priced some stuff. Went to Subway for lunch then to the water dept to pay the bill.

Long day again today. Went to Valley Antiques for a bit this morning and put in another clock, which involved redoing the whole clock area.

It’s a clock that was left with me to check but abandoned about a year ago so I guess it’s mine now. Figured I’d fix it for the experience.

Balance only has 90 to 120 degrees of rotation rather than the 360 it should have. Gonna let it run for a day or so and see how it does.

Sprayed it with carb cleaner and got some of it out. Still needs much more cleaning. Got it all back together and it’s running but not good.

Has a floating balance and someone had oiled it quite a bit with something other than clock oil many years ago. Gummed it up quite a bit.

As the clock has been sitting for 20+ years it’s in need of a complete cleaning. But to see if it will run I just oiled it a bit.

End of the spring was bent out of round. Took pliers and reshaped it like it should be. Put everything back together and it winds fine.

Been working on an old Bulova clock this evening. The time mainspring wouldn’t wind. Got the barrel out, and popped the end off.

Then I can get to work on redoing the freestanding shelf. But life wouldn’t be as much fun if it didn’t include these sequential vortexes.

Already got all the other bits I need either out there or here except for that one piece, so guess a 40+ mile drive is in the making today.

Need one more upright for some shelving changes I need to make at Valley. Gonna have to go to Piedmont to get it. 🙁

Not sure what the morrow will bring. Lotta stuff I need to get done here, so may stay home & get some of it done. Or may go out & about.

Got the fire restarted and a cup of coffee made. There are things I need to do but am not in the frame of mind to do much but sit tonight.

Raised (doubled) the price on the item we went to sell after the person no longer wanted it. Hope they decide to get it later. Arsehat!

Hoping we can get the rest of the stuff put in place and get everything priced at the booth today. Tis Sunday so Valley doesn’t open till 1.

Log on the fire. 2nd cup of coffee on desk. Oatmeal in microwave. Cat kicked and purring as that meant I was paying him attention.

With fire going and electric heater running it’s mid 60’s in here which is fine with me. About time to throw another log on the fire.

Closed off the trailer till the cold wave passes to keep the rest of this place warm. And by warm I mean above 50 degrees F.

Did make it home in time to clean the flue before dark but on just before. Got the 3 foot display case moved to Valley Antiques and set up.

Not going to make a very long day of it though as I need to get back here and clean the flue so we can build a big fire tonight. Tis COLD!

We just don’t have any more room for either of the displays. Not sure what we’re gonna do with the 5 foot one. For now store it most likely.

Making a Piedmont run this morning. Going to load the 3 foot glass display and take to Valley for some other folks to use.

Another really long day yesterday but did get a fair amount of stuff done. Booth is starting to shape up pretty well.

Just finished drilling, dowelling, gluing, & clamping a spindle for an antique bed. Hope it’s not gonna be too hard to reinstall.

Fire started for the nights heat. Need to take a day and get another cord or two of wood cut and stacked. Maybe this weekend.

Very long tiring day today. Got some stuff done but not as much as I had wanted. Going back to Valley tomorrow to try to finish the booth.

Then we get to find places here to put the rest of the stuff from Piedmont. Till later, folks…

About to head to Piedmont to get a load of shelving. Should be the last going to Valley. Hoping we get done at Valley today.

For now am gonna call it a night, so till tomorrow folks… 🙂

REALLY don’t like the new twitter interface. Am trying Hotot as an alternative. Not real sure I like it either but gonna see how it goes.

Twitter changed its layout completely, between last tweet and this one. Guess I’ll get used to it but I really liked the old look better.

Got all but one case and the stuff on the walls moved from the front. Should be able to get the rest done tomorrow after the Piedmont run.

Have 4 sections of shelving on one side wall, 3 across the end and have put 2 up on the other wall. Got to go to Piedmont tomorrow for more.

Long day at Valley Antiques. Got most of the front booth moved into the back section we have taken. Got a 14 x 18 alcove to ourselves now.

For now am gonna call it a night and start again in the morning. Till later, folks… 😉

If all goes as planned will end up with more sq feet in one place so can have much larger stuff as well as all of our shelving/small items.

Until I got a bright idea and opened my mouth. Gonna be moving the stuff in the front booth to a new area we have taken by our back booth.

Spent the morning packing stuff in Piedmont, and the afternoon unpacking it in Alexandria at Valley Antiques. Getting closer. Or was.
