Not sure what to say here. From reading the article it sounds like he has been planning a move of some kind for a while.

Ozone hole repair ‘could take decades’

A few more decades of sunscreen, hats and long sleeves? Or centuries?

PC Linux OS Preview 9 Download

Download

“PCLinuxOS Preview 9 (pclinuxos-p9.iso)
is now available on the
following Mirrors for FTP download.”

Use the http://ftp2.be.freesbie.org/packages/pclinuxos/live-cd/english/preview/ link. I tried all last night to get the one off the first link but kept getting a few meg and then quitting. Could start the dl again but would do the same thing. Tried the other one about an hour ago and already got the iso and am burning it now.

GROKLAW
New Zealand’s government is pointing out that if documents are written in DRM format, particularly in proprietary DRM formats, there are privacy and accessibility issues, particularly in the future.

Interesting point(s) made in this article and in the comments. I have run into this before with apple (IIe and IIc and then again with mac. Fortunately by the time I got to using windows I had gotten into the habit of using plain text for the archival properties if nothing else. no way to preserve the formatting but tis a small price to pay for being able to read the document 10 years later. Also other than price the main reason I moved to gimp as soon as I could on all platforms instead of using photoshop and paint and the other propritary graphics programs was the open format(s) the data could be stored in.

Good read. And one to bookmark to show your boss when the open source vs microsloth argument comes up again.

Wall Street Journal Pats Self on Back | Bayosphere

I think Dan hits it right on the head here. I noted when watching the Keynote where Jobs made the sly little dig at the Wall Street Journal and wondered at the time why he didn’t credit it to CNet.

If Apple doesn’t file suit against any of the “official” news agencies I won’t be surprised. I (personally) think they need to drop all of the suits they are in now against the proApple blogs and websites. This disregard of freedom of speech on Apple Legal’s part is the reason I am looking at linux again for my own purposes.

LWN: Yellow Dog Linux sticks with PowerPC

Love how less than 24 hours after Apple told the world that they are changing to x89 based processors and that they have been testing and building toward this for 5 years that these companies are making these snap off the cuff remarks to get their 2 cents into the spotlight (bloglight?).

Or it could just be gas…

A recent experience in CompUSA led me to write this article. In a nutshell, I was treated about 7 levels above Rude by a sales clerk at a particular CompUSA location.

This dude is funny! I love his way of making sure the store knows they screwed up…

Not real sure what to say here. Interesting at the least. I’m sure that advertising is gonna get a bit crazy in the game now too since you can wrap web pages around 3d objects…

John Battelle’s Searchblog: Jobs On Suing Bloggers

Job’s attitude on this sucks!

As the loyal reader(s?) may know, I tend to vote with my money, so when news of this first came out I backed off on any new mac related purchases till it was settled.

Still not buying any new mac related stuff due to the Job’s attitude zone. Had bought 2 new iBooks in the year previous too. No Tiger for me yet and maybe never. Still trying to make up my mind on this one. Could be I break down and buy a copy or I may just switch back to linux.

I really do like the design of OS X but I despise the course that Apple Legal has taken in the past few months. Enough rambling I guess. Just pisses me off to be mired in the IP wars yet again…
