The faucet in the sinuses has turned down a bit and am starting to feel almost human again other than the headache. Hoping that goes soon…

Soup is close to ready. Gonna try to give it another 30 to 45 minutes though am getting quite hungry from the smell.

Quite a bit of ice on the ground here just northwest of Weaver, and more falling. Glad we got to the store and back when we did.

With current temp of wood burner, figure it will take about 2 hours to cook. Maybe a bit less if I have to poke it up as outside temp drops.

Salt, pepper, all into cast iron pan, which is now on wood burner. Should make a fairly decent stew/soup. May add other bits later.

Got food cooking for later in the day. 2 lb packs of frozen stew veg, 1 onion (sliced), 1 can stewed tom, 1/2 lb cooked Boston butt, water.

Weather is looking quite nasty. Need to make a short trip out to get milk, and after looking at the radar looks like we need to do it soon.

Home with this damn head cold today. Nearly had a wreak last night due to coughing so hard so decided to not chance the drive today.

Have both clocks in for repair running. Neither is totally fixed nor ready to go back to their respective homes, but getting closer.

Think I am getting better. Less sore this afternoon than yesterday and this morning for sure. Guess at 57 I have to expect crap like this…

Been ill again the last couple of days. Along with super sore from crawling around on the roof for 5+ hours Sunday.

Gotta get that done and work benches built so I can start working on stuff in here where it’s warm…

Gonna take a short break and then see about getting some wood in to start building the shelving in the south room.

At least no one that I am willing to pay the price at. Guess I need to get a section of pipe and silver solder or brase one together.

The outside elbow was about a third full. Need to replace it with a T and cap the bottom off but no one around here carries the 8″ T’s.

Got back here and took the brush to the flue on the wood burner as it had been smoking into the room a bit which usually means buildup.

But with what I got done tis lots better than what it was. I hope. Made it to Valley Antiques and got the computer to check on repairing.

Got the south wall about done. If I had 2 more cans of spray foam could have finished the second floor roof and back porch roof.

So looks like a full afternoon. Still need to go to Valley Antiques and do stuff there too but gonna get what I can done here first.

As well as finish foaming the east wall. Got part of the south wall just under the roof that I’ve got to put boards on prior to foaming.

Going to get on the roof of the south room and do some much needed finishing up on the window wall for the second floor.

Built a shelf below the peg board on the back work porch and hung a few tools up on the pegboard. Taking a break and fixing lunch now.

Got the cracks in the north wall foamed. As far as I could reach on the west wall (about 4 feet), and about half of the east wall.

Tis morn and there’s a lot that needs to be done. But am gonna take a few and snooze a bit more before getting started on the day.

With 4 or 5 bushings, I suspect the clock would go another 40 to 50 years. Without, maybe another 5 to 7 with lots of lube.

Got it running and that’s what the customer wanted so will tell them what’s needed and see how much repair they want to pay for.

However tis late and has been a long day, so till tomorrow…

Tried a couple and am experiencing problems with them too, so there are other problems with the machine. Now to see if I can figure them out

Just gotta decide which one now…

socket. So guess I could have two bad chips but everything works fine otherwise. Gonna dl another distro and see how it works.

Thought it might be a memory chip but have tried both 512 mb sticks in both sockets and is always the same no matter which chip in either

All works fine till Firefox is loaded and then a total system freeze is going to happen soon. Installed Google Chrome and it ran all night.

Is a broken machine I bought yesterday that had a known bad hard drive. Pulled it out and have Puppy running via CD and thumb drive.

Working on a Compaq Presario V2000 that may have a bad motherboard. Or just doesn’t like Puppy Linux with Firefox running.

The arsehats that wander WWPC should be on leashes with remote access shock collars. Made it out once again without bloodshed but was close.

Back from the south land. And the wilds of Wally World, both J’ville and Pell City. Hate them both! But the one in PC is worse by far…

Guess that’s a good reason to be a bit tired… Got home, built the fire and got a pot of supper on the stove. Hope it will be ready soon.

Got 4 pallets of stuff ready to wholesale, so at 42 boxes per pallet we went through over 160 boxes of stuff today.

Long cold day done at the part at Piedmont. Spent most of it sorting, pricing, and shelving groceries. Got another 20 + banana boxes left.

Managed to make it through the day at work. Twas not easy but not as bad as I had feared. Hoping tomorrow turns out as well.

Breakfast is almost done so till later, folks…

splitting that much wood is usually much more painful. “the day” should have been in that last sentence between “movement” and “after”.

Can still move this am so must be over the worst of the crud. And in better shape than I have any right to be as movement after cutting and

can be fixed quick and easy. Back in a bit…

Was gonna do some Italian sausage with sauce over spaghetti noodles but am not up to doing that much work in the kitchen so time to see what

So guessing I am over the crud. After managing to get things done yesterday and then the overexertions of today and feeling tired but ok.

Back in after an afternoon cutting n splitting firewood. Got about a half a cord cut and split and another quarter cord cut, on the trailer.

There are a couple of patches that I can get to with minimal trouble so a gonna go for those first. Should be an exciting afternoon.

Made a scouting trip out and about for firewood. Found lots. Most is so far off the road to make getting it a serious job.

Was planning on going for another load but not sure if I’m up to it. Will see. And hope the snow event forecast for Tuesday doesn’t happen.

Guessing I hit it when cutting or splitting wood yesterday. Should make getting the rest of the trailer load of wood cut/split interesting.

Awoke this morning to a painful right calf muscle. Somewhat swollen and bruised. Don’t remember doing anything to have caused it.

Outside fire checked. Second pan of food in MW. Boots off. Still got things I want to do tonight but for now am gonna sit and veg a bit…

Back from WW run. Got necessarys and more. Time (almost) for the boots to come off. First got to go out one more time and check the fire.

Fire going in woodburner. Reasonably warm in here. Need to make a WW run, just trying to decide if I am up to it or not.

Got about half the load of wood cut and split. Area on back porch cleared of building wood and restacked with burning wood.

Though not feeling better am at least not feeling any worse so am hoping that I am on the mend.

About to get back out (just ate lunch) and put up another section of the overhead storage so I can finish getting the wood out of the way.

Got a burn barrel put together and have been cleaning up even more on the back porch and some of the crap in the yard.

And unload the wheel barrow. And cut and split the rest of the stockpile of wood on the trailer, that started this mess.

Still got to put up one more section of overhead storage to get the rest of the stuff up out of the walk area. Then can move shelving in.

Got almost all of the wood up out of the way. Put up a couple of small pieces of peg board above the work bench. Getting closer.

Had to come in and take a break. Crud has still got me down. Guess I must be doing better as I haven’t fallen off the ladder so far…

overhead storage for wood and such. Got one section done and about half the stuff piled up on the back porch is now out of the way.

all the stuff piled up where it needed to go. Mostly building lumber. So diverted my energy to finishing up an earlier project, building

Started cutting the wood left on the trailer, got a wheel barrow load split, then brought it to the porch to unload and couldn’t cause of

Still got some on the trailer that I didn’t cut and split last time around. Will see how much is there first, and then decide on what to do.

gotta get out and get some more in. At least the sun is shining and is above freezing. Guess I’ll go out and uncover the tractor n trailer.

firewood supply is getting critical again. Got about 2 days worth left that is already cut and split. Though I really don’t feel up to it,

Looks like this is gonna be a nothing done day. Body is telling me to go back to bed and I think I need to listen. Till later, folks…

Salt is added. Also added some fresh ground black pepper. From the consistency I should go ahead and add some more water but will wait.

Lunch turned out pretty good other than needing a bit more salt. Which I need to go and add before I forget it again…

@ScionBoo Yes it was, and thanks for suggesting it. I’m leaning toward chain link fencing with barbed wire and additional signs.

I appreciate them with dumplings or battered and fried. Tasty little critters… 😉

Turns out this is Squirrel appreciation day. http://www.boingboing.net/2011/01/21/squirrel-appreciatio.html

Got a large pot of chicken n shrimp gumbo cooking. Figure we can get 3 or 4 meals out of it and need something quick n easy to warm.

@ScionBoo Had actually thought of that, but deadfalls tend to block the road, and I understand explosives are illegal to use on people.

to have to stop the truck, get out, open the gate, drive through, rinse and repeat. Other option is yet another sign but not sure they read.

Sent him on his way with a very loud and belligerent NO! Thinking about going up and closing the gate with us inside, but is such a pain

Another arsehat came down the POSTED driveway today. This one wanting to coolseal the mobile home roof across the way.

Which will be after I get the shelves and work benches built in the south room. Guess I need to get off of here and start on something…

Got a few duplicates which will be up for sale at http://www.bonanza.com/booths/depatty once I get them scanned.

Lotta holes in there, and only one or two in the early years but was still amazed at how many years are almost complete.

Got two of the new shelves loaded with books. Consolidated the EQ Mystery Magazines. Turns out they span the years from 1949 to 2008.

And still breathing hard from the earlier exertion. Was gonna go out to WW for a few things before lunch but having to rethink that.

Almost didn’t make it back. Still breathing hard and limbs are trembling a bit. Guess I ain’t quite over this crud yet. 🙁

Found a box (or 2) of books that I wanted over here so crated them up and headed back. Knew I was weak but didn’t realize how bad.

Anyway, I walked over to there to check on things as it’s been weeks since either of us has gone that way. Nothing out of place that I saw.

Said he saw the gate open and thought he would ask. Guess the NO TRESPASSING signs don’t apply if the gate is open…

Had some arsehat come by earlier, ON FOOT, wanting to know if we wanted the trailer at the other entrance torn down???

Which ever, it should be interesting times till I gets it done…

If I can get the bottom 2 shelves on the east end cleared will remove them and set up the work bench in there. Or that’s the current plan.

Got some of the crap cleared out of the south room. Think I am gonna start with a shelf across the top of the south wall.

And mostly know what I am gonna build and how to build them, just got to get the energy to get up and start on it…

Still got to build more shelves to hold the totes though. Got an area cleared out in the corner of the south room to start in.

Also found the baked beans. Have GOT to rearrange and label the boxes and totes so we can find stuff easier.

Found the molding planes while looking for the tote full of baked beans. Got 9 of them so have quite a few to look for/make.

to build more shelves. The question there is where to build them. Suspect the south room is where I’ll start this next project.

Now just got to find the damn things in the piles of piles in this disorganized mess we call a domicile. Guess it gives me another reason

His blog “Musings from Big Pink” got me interested in using the molding planes, as I had purchased the ones I have to resell.

Know I need to find or make a pair of snipes bills but can’t remember what other ones are missing. http://www.msbickford.com/ has info.

Don’t really need them but want to see which ones I have so I can make a list of what to look for that I need to finish the set.

getting side tracked and unable to remember what I was trying to do. Still looking for the box of planes I bought several months ago.

More than a little tired of this bug. Todays main problem is woosies and being unable to think clearly. Keep trying to do things but then

Then again I may start on shelves and insulating the walls upstairs first. For now am gonna poke up the fire and do some sitting.

Getting closer to having to decide what I am gonna do in the bathroom. May put that decision off and build a door frame and door first.

Shelves be done. At least done enough for now. Still got to clean/dust/vacuum them but they are installed and secured.

And had forgotten about any of it being there. Yep, it’s time to take a nap…

Went to lie down and realized I had a drill bit, small metal and wood square, carpenters pencil, and tape measure in my robe pockets.

Lunch soup has been fixed and eaten. Am gonna take a nap and see if I feel better later. Really want to get the shelves done today.

Not real sure what I’m gonna do in there. Several ideas but nothing has jelled yet. Gotta go and figure out lunch even though not hungry.

Will try to find the camera and get some pix. Guess I will start on the bathroom closet side after this side is done.

Have managed to get another 2 shelves in each column. Looks like 2 more to go and then some cleanup and will be done enough to use.

Another feel rotten day. Able to be upright for short periods but then having to get horizontal for a while.

Till later, folks…

Was hoping to finish it tonight but just not up to it so tomorrow it is. If the bug lets me. Most likely gonna be an early night.

And I think done for the night. Got 4 shelves in on each column, with either 4 or 5 more to go. Depends on the spacing. Getting closer.

screws. I guess a bit for electricity but not much. I like free/recycled building materials! Gonna try to get some more done. Back in a bit.

that ain’t happening tonight. Will figure on getting more done tomorrow evening if I’m up to it. For now am gonna call it an evening…

Wall backing board is all up. Firewood loaded in for the night. Stove going. And I am done in. Was hoping to get some of the shelves in but

Stove shoveled out and fire restarted. Enough coals left so it fired right back up. Now to get the rest of the backing boards installed.

Got to get the washtub emptied and shovel the ash out of the woodburner so I can get the fire going for the evening first though.

After that’s done and at least some books and stuff put in place will start working on the bathroom side shelves and closet area.

boards put in place. Once the other half get put in, then I can start installing the shelving on the living room side.

Got bottom plate and uprights in place. Bits trimmed off of the cedar post so wall will fit tighter against it. And about half of the back

After a cup of tea that is. Need to slow down. Didn’t realize how shaky I was till sitting down to type this.

Floor upstairs feels more stable. Another round tuit to mark off the list. Now to find some more 2×6’s for the base and uprights.

Got the end beam of the second floor tripled now. Wasted quite a bit of time looking for an s2 bit before reverting to philipshead screws.

Still not doing too good and trying to not overdo it, even I am going a bit stir crazy from sitting so much.

Trying to get enough 2×6 pieces in to get the book shelf wall section at least framed and started. Had to come in for a sit down.

Uncovered the pile of 2x lumber to find the top layer wet with condensation from the plastic covering. Got the worst of it drying in sun.

Will se how it works out for a day or so and then decide. Think I need a lie down. Been upright too long and still feeling quite rough.

Right now tis around a 5 to 6 degree difference. May end up moving the fan a couple of feet north which will put it directly over the stove.

The fan is making a big difference already. Much cooler upstairs/warmer down here. Without it there is a 12 to 15 degree difference.

But think I have over done enough for now at least. Got the heater going again after letting it die down so I could work around/over it.

Along with reshaping/moving the block wall on the west side of the stove. Moved some of the rock behind it too and have lots more to move.

Just had my second cup of coffee for the day. Got busy this morning and forgot to get it. Have installed a ceiling fan above the woodburner.

Think I’ll do some more surfing and watch a few more videos. Till later, folks…

outside to gather materials from under snow/ice covered tarps, and that is the part I’m not sure I’m up to tonight.

the wall/bookshelf/closet project or build the door for the end of the trailer. Leaning toward the door, but either one involves a trip

Supper now done. Somewhat more awake than earlier though still feeling like crap. Trying to decide if I have he energy to start on
