Thinking about going to Dixieland flea market below Harpersville tomorrow. Tis about a 1.5 hour drive one way, but haven’t been lately.

Now have a really large pile of brush and trees to burn. Not sure if I’ll get to it tomorrow or if it’ll be the first of the week.

Got all the stuff that had grown up around the blueberry bush pulled out, which ended up taking several hours. Twas a real mess.

Got most of the drive in front of and beside the Lincoln cleared to see about moving it. Then went to the garden and started clearing there.

Spent most of the day on the tractor removing brush, briers, brambles, and trees. Got the area around the rotovator cleared.

Only thought I was worn out yesterday evening. Just barely sitting upright today. Hoping it gets better soon as I work at Valley tomorrow.

For now tis time to finish my tea and call it a night, so till later, folks… 😉

Not sure what tomorrow will be like. Things we need to do but the 400 miles I have driven this week has done me in pretty well.

Did a few other clean out and check up on plumbing problems and think I have them all under control for now.

Got a new metal check valve at Home Depot in Pell City and put it in. No leaks. Also replaced the kitchen faucets while I was there.

Took it back out and retaped the threads. Back in and found the leak was at an internal connection. Hence the trip back down today.

Everything new. All the parts I got were metal. The valve they sent with the new pump – plastic. After installing & pressurising it leaked.

Again no problems. All new metal parts. Then installed the check valve coming out of the pump in the line going to the house.

2nd trip was with all parts needed. Got the tub faucet bits replaced first. No problems at all. Then went and replaced the foot valve.

Been to Calcis 3 times with the plumbing/pump problems. Think it’s done. 1st time was to find out what needed doing and what was needed.

Dug another one out of the back room and put the shade on it. That’s 4 lamps ready to go to Valley tomorrow morning.

Looking around just from where I sit, I can see 7 that are in some state of repair or fabrication and there are more elsewhere.

Not really sure why I have so many that I am working on right now. Guess they just built up to critical mass and something had to be done.

Got 2 lamp shades at Bama today. One of which I put one the Camel lamp. Tis perfect! The other will go on one of the many lamps in process.

Then back to Calcis to fix the water problems that have been ongoing for about 2 weeks now. Hoping I get it with one trip to the hardware.

Took it out and then went to look at the parts needed to fix the pump. Got a list and drawings. Will go to the hardware tomorrow for parts.

Some is cheap and some is sky high, with a lot in between. Got to Calcis and took part of the bedroom wall out to get to the tub faucet.

Will go back as soon as we can. Wild place. Over 400 dealers inside under roof with just about everything you can think of for sale.

Got about a third of the way through the place and had to go. Got lunch and went to Calcis where we headed out to in the first place.

Long day, but not the day we had planned. Went to Bama Flea Market instead of Scottsburo first Monday trade day. Spent a couple of hours.

All of the ones left require Dremal work on the switches as well as cutting & gluing felt. And I don’t really feel up to doing any of it.

Just finished up with the first 2 of the lamps. Don’t know whether I’ll do the monkeys or the camel next. And may not do any more tonight.

Speaking of selling things. That reminds me I need to take some things that sold out of the store on Bonanza.

I think we are about even if not just a bit ahead for the month as of today.

Went to Valley for a bit to put out a few pieces and ended up staying all afternoon. Got a few things done, and sold a few pieces. 🙂

Since we have been home I’ve put 4 lamps together out of parts we bought. Still got parts for one more but am taking a break for a bit.

Where we got a bunch of stuff and walked away from even more. Gonna have to go back soon and pick up several other choice pieces.

Then headed to the Treasure Chest in Pell City. Unloaded and set stuff up there. When we finished we went to another shop down the road.

Took some stuff to Valley this morning. Met up with some folks we knew and took longer than planned. Did lunch at Subway in Alexandria.

Linux ROCKS! Went from an AMD platform to an Intel one with NO problems or needed changes. Try that with Windows…

Back on linux! New (to me) computer with the same 2 hard drives. Swapped them and the ram from the toasted one and booted up fine!

Okay, it prints. Had to change all the fonts in the document to ones that are on the iBook but it does work.

Am running on the old iBook G4 again. Have the importent stuff in Dropbox so that’s available. Now to try to print to the Samsung laser.

Took out the motherboard. Light comes on on the power supply if it’s not plugged into the motherboard. Plugged in it just flashes. 🙁

Well lost another computer to lightening. Was typing away and it went pop really loud and then dead. Then I heard the thunder.

Think it’s time for a cup of tea and then bed. Been a long day and was tired when I got up this morning. Much more so now.

Then will separate the sell stuff into Valley, Pell City, flea market, and yard sale piles. That’ll determine were it gets stored.

Way too many. Figure on trying to get 3 or 4 a week till it’s all moved. Most of the rest is coming here to be separated into keep and sell.

Got a load of stuff from Piedmont today. Took part of it to Valley. Will take the rest to Pell City tomorrow. No idea how many loads left.

Sessions Inlay No. 1 http://t.co/CyyiYJcY

Most likely a trip to Piedmont is going to be one of them. Still have way too much stuff up there than has got to come this way.

Not sure what the morrow is gonna bring. Several things need doing. Just need to decide which will take precedence.

Delivered the Sessions clock today. Happy customer! Sot a few more things done at Valley Antiques. Still more that have to be done soon.

Made 4 taper pins to hold face on. Figured out a better way to cut them with drill & file. Then made another much smaller one for the hands.

Took crutch rod and verge back out of the clock. Reshaped suspension rod slot on crutch and sanded suspension rod. Much quieter now. 😉

Late arising today. Got the fire restarted in the heater, and breakfast about ready. Trying to figure out the rest of the day.

And I have had about as much fun as I can take for one day. So i think I am gonna call it a night. Till later, folks… 😉

Thanks to baking soda, vinegar, boiling water, and a plunger the kitchen sink drain is now working again.

Only problem I have with it is that it took me this many years to figure it out…

With this trick I have MANY more from all those assortments I have bought over the years, that will now fit.

Put them in and reassembled everything. Water is back on and no dripping. 😉

Took 2 of the ones I had and put them on a screw with a nut on each side clamping them together. Ground the outside edge down to fit.

Went to change out the faucet washers in the kitchen sink, but was out of the right size.

Really need to make a taper pin for the hands too. It’s got to be quite a bit smaller in diameter so will use some brass wire for stock.

Tis ticking merrily away. Got 4 more taper pins to make but they hold the face on and can wait till another day.

Cleaned it all up again and put the bits back together. Filed a brass rod into 4 taper pins. Applied nano oil. Put it back in the case.

Cooked and ate supper. Came back in here, looked at the clock and started in on it. Polished the pivots, broached the bushings.

Which I guess I need to get in the kitchen and start on.

Don’t know if I’ll get it finished tonight or not. Am about done in now and still have supper to figure out and fix. 🙁

Next up is to polish the pivots. Spent an hour earlier getting the verge pallets back in shape and the escape wheel teeth cleaned up.

Took the Sessions clock out there for the owner to pick up. Working on a Vienna style Regulator now. Got all the bits cleaned.

Just back from Valley Antiques. Sold a couple of things while out there that wouldn’t have sold otherwise. Guess I need to be there more.

Got it on the shelf running and it’s somewhere close to keeping time. Will see how it is in the morning. For now am gonna call it a night.

Have another 4 1/2 hours in it the other day taking it apart, burnishing & polishing the pivots. Now to get it adjusted & back to the owner.

Ended up working on the Sessions clock from about 9 am to 10 pm today. Lotta down time doing other things in there but still was a long day.

Must admit that the 62 pictures I took of the tear down really helped in the reassembly. I think I could have done it without them but…

And since I have just done this one, and have the teardown/reassembly fresh in mind,I think I’ll do mine next.

Went ahead and oiled it and am going to put it back in the case after supper. Turns out it’s the same movement as my grandmothers clock.

Ended up installing another bushing after looking at them all again. Got it back together and it’s running on the test bench now.

Got the 4 bushings installed in the Sessons clock. Now to clean the other bushings, reassemble all of the bits, and test.

Having a very stupid day. Keep looking at the springs & gears in this clock & not being able to get my head wrapped around how they go. 🙁

Been an at home day. Spent most of it working on stuff, some inside and some outside. Has been very restful to not have had to go anywhere.

As well as it’s running I think that should get it going for quite a few more years. Tis late and I think I’m rambling so till later folks.

Put it in the clock and it’s working nicely. Next thing on that one (Sessions mantle clock) is to install a couple of bushings.

Helped a couple of other dealers with some stuff and then came home. Made a new suspension spring for another clock when I got here.

Went to the mall about 1 and ended up spending the whole day there. Did some repair on a cabinet door, and worked in the booth a bit.

There is one wheel that has some damage from a previous repair that I’m trying to decide if I want to fix or let it go as is still working.

After 3 adjustments it’s close to keeping correct time. Will take it back apart in the next day or 2 and do a full clean, polish and lube.

Put it back in the case and with less trouble than I had figured on got the pendulum aligned and it all ticking away.

First time in the wrong direction so took it back out and did it all over again. Reassembled the clock mechanism with only a few problems.

Fired up the rotary tool with a pointed stone in it and shaped the hole a bit. Rewound the spring and got it back in it’s barrel.

Twas a day. Made it through and got a few things done. Trimmed the end of a broken clock spring and punched a new hole in it.

Then to WW for a few provisions and then home. Warmed leftovers once here and been browsing since. Am about done in so till later folks…

Twas quite wet by then so we headed back homeward. Stopped at Valley to put out a new piece of glass and do some rearranging of a case.

Found a few things we had to have and then the clock guy got back from lunch so I went and we talked bit and I picked up a few things.

Got their chicken & bacon melt footlong and split it for what less food would have cost at the fish place. Then went to Landus Antique Mall.

Bought them and headed for lunch just after 1. Checked the deals at the fish place but they have gone up way too much so went on to Subway.

Made it to Treasure Chest around 11, got the stuff unloaded, unpacked, & on the shelves by about 12:30. Found a few things we had to have.

Finished the wall hanging carving today. The wax worked very well. Finished off with a nice shine with very little rubbing.

Even if the clocks I have out there don’t sell at least they are bringing in business. Have another bed foot board and a cabinet to fix too.

Getting the booth organized a bit better. Figure it will take another couple of weeks at the very least. Got another clock in for repair.

Another long day at Valley. Got some stuff done. Cat got a lot packed up to go to Treasure Chest in Pell City. Thinning stuff out a bit.
