GROKLAW
It’s been fun watching SCO spin on the Davidson 2002 email/Swartz 1999 memo, don’t you think? While a few in the media showed some confusion, and one joined SCO’s frantic spin, most seemed to get one fundamental issue as clear as a bell, and you could almost hear a collective gasp and the world saying:

You mean it was all a bluff? Is this *all* SCO was holding when they said all those horrible things about Linux? Not just Linux, but Linus too?

The sheer gall of it is what resonated, even if many didn’t quite catch why it mattered legally. Their jaws dropped, because even now, this late in the game, people still thought that SCO must have something, some basis, at least in their own minds, to embark on their swashbuckling slash-and-burn litigation attack on Linux.

I got nothing more to say other than I suspect those brass balls of ol Darryl’s are fixin to get roasted…

You, no doubt, saw where IBM finally is dropping support for OS/2. (I LOVED the User Friendly cartoon where the talking head newsperson said they polled the user base for opinions on the decision, and he said it was terrible!) Considering the facts that:
Micro$oft screwed IBM terribly on OS/2, and that IBM is pushing Linux like a redneck with a pickup trying to get his wife’s car home from her uncle Fred’s after the clutch has gone out,
and that Micro$oft is waking to the fact that Linux, when it gets its s**t together will blow Windows out of the water (free, no spyware-I am currently redoing 2 XP boxen for spyware problems-one, if it had been a dog with parasites, would have had to been euthanized),
and that Micro$oft is the source, direct or otherwise, for SCO’s financing for this little abuse of the legal system,
then, this is just the OS/2-Windows war, take 132,234.45 or so. But remember, Big Blue has been around since the 1800s, and they come from a part of the world where the battle cry is “Don’t get mad-get even!”
Life should be interesting for a while yet.

Yep I did see that one about the end of life of OS/2. Missed the user friendly I guess. will have go go back and look for it.

I want to know just who it was that cursed us with living in interesting times. I would settle for really boring times myself…
