No, just a lot more people need to do what I have done — not purchase any more “CD”s. Actually, Philips isn’t letting them call them “CD”s anymore — they don’t meet the standards set to be called “CD”, with all the DRM on them.
Of course, finding enough music on a CD to make it worthwhile to purchase the whole thing — that is a hard thing to do now. I certainly don’t advocate file-swapping with no renumeration to the artist (and I don’t download ANYTHING, unless it’s directly from the artist — I just don’t want a new jones,like buying music online) but the artists better get off their fat asses and come up with something new and get rid of the record companies (as they are now, anyway) or the listening public is going to tell them ALL to go to hell and force the various legislatures to make ALL downloading legal. When these kids grow up and realize that THEY control the vote, and thus the politicians, if they can get THEIR act together, then the music industry will REALLY get what’s coming to them.
Of course, it could be SEVERAL decades before this generation figures it out…..or it could be the next election. The politicians won’t care what the money says to do, as long as the money keeps talking. (Either straight-out bribes, or contributions–wait, I seem to be having difficulty telling the difference here…)If you don’t believe me, you need to go read some more history…..start with the Romans, the documentation is pretty good there, it is by NO means the beginning of THIS story…..graft, if it doesn’t predate prostitution, was there to profit from it…..

Yea, I quit buying any new music when the RIAA started suing people.
Whether it is on a CD or via download, if it is associated with with the RIAA, I will NOT buy it, nor will I purchase any music that is crippled by any kind of DRM.
Hate it for the bands but they are the ones that made the choice to tie in with the RIAA in the first place.
