Interesting concept. Would have to see more info from some independent testing labs before investing that kind of money into an add on to a standard water heater.

Uh, does the phrase “heat pump” ring any bells with anyone? I have heard of large units that cool the entire house while heating a TON (actually, more by weight) of water. As usual, you can pay now (invest in an efficient water heater with nice byproducts like cool air) or pay later (get a cheap resistance heater and pay more for power). The best ones use a ground loop for the heat source.
Maybe ought to look into some hybrid systems (solar assist, etc.) and try to tap into my system to lower the power bill…..
