Rust removal by electrolysis

Getting more and more cast iron cooking stuff and need to clean it up. Found a post on the Teardrops and Tiny Travel Trailers site that linked to the above site that shows and explains how to do the deed with washing soda and a battery charger. Looks to be just what I need as it claims to remove paint as well as rust and other crud. Gonna have to try it this coming week as I now have 7 pans, pots, frying pans, lids, and other pieces that I need to clean. Will try to post pix of the whole process.

Let me know who it goes-I have a nice large iron skillet that I let get rusty quite a while back, and I just can’t get it right. (Or to be more accurate, I haven’t taken the time to sand/steel wool the sucker clean and then cure it properly. Mainly I don’t think about it until I need it, and then it’s too late.) I would love to get that skillet back online.

Will do. I gotta get a box of the Washing Soda first but am going to use a plastic tub to hold the solution instead of a 5 gal bucket as some of the pans are larger in diameter than the 5 gal buckets are. Steel scrap for the electrodes is no problem and have the battery charger. Guess as soon as I get the soda I’ll give it a go.
