Boing Boing: MSFT acquires spyware firm, changes antispyware app to ignore its products

I gotta wonder about people and companies that continue to support a corporation that is so big that it has no idea what all it’s divisions are doing.

Or I suspect that this is the work of some isolated group within the megasauar rather than an overall desire by the powers than be to once again be castigated and badmouthed by the blogsphere.

On the other hand it is Microsoft and from some of his recent public faux pas Steve Balimer Ballmer may just be as stupid as he sounds.

An Ear For Robots: New Approach

Cool! A totally different way of looking at voice recognition. The 1 kb of memory the article mentions is just unbelievable. And they claim that that amount is enough for all numerals and some simple commands! In Russian only so far…

GROKLAW

GROKLAW
I think LinuxInsider has been misnamed. Clearly they hate Linux enough that they scour the world looking for anti-Linux material. Consequently, I think we should come up with a new name for them. My offering is LinuxBasher. That is at least accurate. Or how about Linux”Insider”? If you can come up with something more elegant, go ahead.

I quit reading them a while back for just this kind of bs. I wonder if they are funded or owned by Microsoft or SCO or who?

Mail Avenger

By , July 3, 2005 12:07 am

Mail Avenger
Mail Avenger is a highly-configurable, MTA-independent SMTP server
daemon. It lets users run messages through filters like ClamAV and SpamAssassin during SMTP
transactions, so the server can reject mail before assuming
responsibility for its delivery. Other unique features include TCP SYN fingerprint and
network route recording, verification of sender addresses through SMTP
callbacks, SPF
(sender policy framework) as a general policy language, qmail-style
control over both SMTP-level behavior and local delivery of extension
addresses, mail-bomb protection, integration with kernel firewalls,
and more.

Gonna have to do something when I bring the email accounts onboard the lan. Looks promising.
