Now to see what I can get done with this pile of computers that still need wiping and reinstalling. Tis a smaller pile than last week…

Made it up and to work. Quite stiff and sore with hands that don’t want to work quite right but am somewhat better than I had feared.

For now supper, a bit of browsing, and an early night.

May try to get on that next weekend. Or not. Still got a lot of clock stuff to get done too so will have to see.

Next up is to replace the universal joint on the bush-hog and cut the rest of the nonwooded areas over here.

May not be able to move them in the morning though. But a fair amount of the grass and weeds got trimmed.

Hands are just getting to where they aren’t squeeking in the joints when I move them. Quite a weird feeling when they do that.

Ran better than it has in a while. Guess it needed the cleanout more than I had thought it did. Course I overdid it a bit.

Guess the weedeater is smarter than I am. Went back out after the temp was around 90 instead of 100+ and it cranked and ran fine. 😉

Will work on it again after it starts to cool off some out there.

Tore the carb back down and blew all the ports out I could. Back together again and same if not worse. Came in and took a cold shower.

Refilled the gearbox with grease and cranked it back up only to have it refuse to run at speed. Runs at idle ok.

Cleaned the carb and replaced the primer bulb, put it back together and got it started and adjusted. Cut a bit with it, then cut it off.

After spending the first part of the day working on the weedeater, then the middle part finding parts, got back and worked on it some more.

Managed to find and extract the weed eater from it’s winter quarters. After breakfast will see if I can get it started and cut some weeds.

And of course after no customers, I get to the back and start on a project, the store fills up.

Closing in on 11 am and no buying customers yet today. One came in and then left. Not worth making the trip here for this.

USPS is best and cheapest from what I have seen but some companies don’t seem to ship that way.

Will just request to NOT have anything shipped here by FedEx from now on. As bad as UPS is they only use their on employees at least here.

Package finally got here. After seeing the guy was Fed-Ex contract worker didn’t even bother to ask WTF about Saturday. Already knew… 🙁

I reported him. Gonna have some questions for the delivery person when it does get here.

Waiting for a Fex Ex delivery that was supposed to have been here Saturday. Driver reported that we weren’t open at 10:28 am.

And still opened the door/store about 7 minutes early. Hope I get reported…

and went on with turning on the lights and getting the register ready for the day. He left before I got around to unlocking the door.

I ignored him an

Pulled in front of that one so close he had to back up to get out. 2nd one was banging on the door before I got to the front counter.

Gonna be one of those days. Had 2 folks piss me off before I got the store open. 1st one was parked sideways in my parking area.

Got the new signs up on the gate posts but since there were 2 there already don’t really expect them to notice the additional 2. 🙁

Thinking about painting my own: What part of “NO TRESPASSING” do you NOT understand? & NO, the scrap/junk is NOT for sale – Now LEAVE!

Gonna put up additional No Trespassing signs and pick up some Keep Out signs to put up also.

Got woken at 8:35 by some arsehat in the drive tooting the horn. By the time I got pants on he was gone. #^(*!^% scrappers…

Then it gets a new paint job. Well after a bit of wood filler and some carving that is. 🙂

repair. All I know of right now is needs the bellows replaced and a good clean and lube. Will know more after a teardown, maybe tomorrow.

Got another cuckoo case clamped with glue curing on the bench now. Still got more pegs to install and face bits to glue on it.

Brought home a cuckoo clock with music box that was just too good a deal to pass up. Needs work (what old ones don’t?) but should be an easy

stopped by Landis Antique Mall for a bit. Talked with Gary Landis and looked at several interesting clocks while there.

Cause I ain’t gonna be there.

Actually let me rephrase that. “A” certain party wants the store open. And if he wants it open, then he is gonna have to run it by his self.

Would rather work on stuff here but that’s not an option. Monday certain parties want the store open but I’m taking the day off.

Long week. Still fighting with lack of energy. but seem to be getting a bit better. Got to make the Calcis trip tomorrow.

I remember using a BBS on a 300 baud modem that displayed the text faster than this thing is at present. 🙁

Now on the second day of ClamXav scanning this iBook. Hoping it finishes soon as is slowing things (including typing) to a crawl.

Another fun day in the big city of Piedmont. Still fighting the lack of energy. Not sure if I’m getting better or worse. Still upright.

Am upright and at work. And that’s about all. Keep hoping for a return of at least some energy but so far not happening.

Made it through the day. Barely. Thinking it will be an early night tonight.

Took the case apart after getting it home and now have the movement in the remains of the case ticking away on the wall in here.

Ended up spending a lot more than I had planned but got several nice pieces, including an old Sessions 12″ office clock.

Long day driving today. Made the trip to Calcis after doing the bank and paying bills. Stopped at a few places on the way back home.

Tis later than I had planned on being up so will bid you all G-nite and go check the eyelids for light leaks. Till the morrow folks…

Haven’t burned any bridges yet. Managed to keep the cool today and am taking tomorrow off so maybe Saturday will be a better day.

One of those days. Have had too many of them lately. Time for a change, and I know what it is but is so much work I’m dragging my feet.

Have spent more than I had planned on several things this week but came out at the end with about as much as I went into it with so i’m 🙂

Long week. Now over as far as I am concerned. May do a bit on a clock or two later tonight if I feel up to it but work for the week is done.

I think there’s pivots on 2 wheels left to polish out and the time train is ready to measure for bushings. Got a bunch to do on this one.

Have most of the pivots in the time train cleaned up and polished already. Just finished polishing the verge faces.

Working on a Seth Thomas #89 movement now. Got it torn down and about half the parts cleaned today. Still got the strike train to clean.

Have started another blog dealing with clocks at http://clockishthings.wordpress.com/

There will be another one somewhere, sometime, though. Just got to keep looking…

Bid and then got outbid in the last minute. Went for about a hundred more than I was willing to spend on it. 🙁

If it doesn’t go much higher that is. Got a little less than an hour to go now so gonna have to decide soon. 🙁

Can almost afford it and the months bills too.

Trying to decide if I want to bid on a watchmakers lathe. Tis already higher than I had said I would go but I REALLY want it!

If we get a generator going may be able to get the cash register and card machines back online as the phone is still working.

We opened today and will try to be open as usual other than the no power bit which means no debit, credit or ebt sales. Cash or checks only.

Keep getting different stories about how long it will take to get power back to Piedmont. Shortest time is 3 days longest is 10. 🙁

We’re still alive and with no damage other than a night without power and a few limbs broken off. Store in Piedmont is fine.

Seems to be quite a demand for clock repair. Another few hundred dollars invested in tools and supplies and I might just have a new career.

Now only 7 or 8 behind. Got to get on it as have another cuckoo clock coming in to work on in the next few days.

I think it’s done other than some minor adjustments once I get it back in it’s case with the pendulum, face, and hands on.

Laid the stand down and lubed all the pivots with the 10 weight nano lube and when I set it back upright it started running on it’s own.

Tightened the 4 holddown nuts, set it up on the test stand and it started running without the pendulum. 😉

Came in and after cleaning the pivots and wheels one last time to get all traces of polish gone, peggged the pivots and put it together.

Almost sunburned and aching all over. Did manage to get a few hundred pounds of copper pipe torn out though. Got more to do tomorrow.

LONG day today at the tearing sh!t apart to sell for scrap cause the discount groceries aren’t moving store in Piedmont.
