Tuesday after the storm

By , February 26, 2008 8:57 pm

Has been a much of nothing day. Got out in the early afternoon to go by my folks house for a bit, then went to the post office to ship out some e-bay stuff. Made a stop by a thrift shop on the way back where Cat got one book, and then we came home. The rest of the day was spent cooking or reading. Going to call it an early night and in the morning going to try to get up early and head over to Gadsden to Poor Boys trade day and see what the Wednesday traffic is like there.

I’m taking that you didn’t have any significant damage at your place. I was a little worried about that because according to what I read online yesterday the highest recorded gust of the storm was in Weaver (at the airport, maybe?) @70 mph. Now that’s a nice gust. The Anniston Star (annistonstar.com, in case you couldn’t figure it out) has a nice video about the roof damage at Saks High School and a slideshow showing shots from all around the area. There was some wind, let me tell you. And some hail. We got off lucky with no reported injuries in the area. There was a death in Leeds, however.

Feeling somewhere in between good and bad this morning–not good, for sure, but not that bad (yet) either. I guess the day will tell. I don’t feel bad enough to stay home–if I go to work and stay busy, I’ll probably feel better than if I just stay home and vegetate. I’ll try to stay out in the workbuilding and get some more tablet PCs ready–only 20 to go now….

Didn’t take any damage to the dwelling. Other than that I haven’t checked. Guess I should have but haven’t felt like getting out to do so. Got a few things that we have to go out and about for today so will try to look at things this afternoon if we get back in time. Don’t feel like going out but figure I’d feel just as bad either here or there so will try for there since I know what it’s like here… 😕

I know what you mean–but I have actually gotten to feeling better than when I woke up. Of course, I don’t usually feel real good when I wake up anyway…and I had coffee this morning, that was a HUGE plus. I was wondering about some of your structures over there, but waiting is. I have a feeling that you could pick up (probably literally) some free firewood if you wanted to around the county here in the next few days–there are a LOT of trees down, not a few of them big, old oaks and such. The bigger they are etc.
