Hurtt Prize: Should you be worried?
Looks like someone (several someones now) have decided to put out a bounty for a video of the Houston Chief of Police breaking the law. Now lets see just how long it takes for this idiot to change his (stupid) tune…
Dell seeks damages from man called Dell | The Register
This is such bad PR for Dell the computer company.
I bought a Dell laptop once and though I tried I just wasn’t comfortable with it and sold it asap. Never buy or even look at another for that reason. With this stupid lawsuit they would be on my big biz to avoid list even if they weren’t already.
Treehugger: Cannondale Jacknife — Another Take on Folding Bikes

Was just reading this article and one of the inovations here is instead of using the standard chain drive, the drive system is hydraulic. I’ve thought many times over the years that hydraulics would be better than the chain but…
So the brain fart that just hit is: Instead of using the pedals to provide motive power, use the seat to drive the piston to motovate the machine.
Most likely impractical. Next would be to use levers instead of petals so there is no rotation, more like the sky machines or walking machines.
Just an idea or two. Back to your regularly scheduled program now…

This is awesome! And yet I have to wonder why? 😉
Boing Boing: Apple censors OSX-on-Intel message boards with DMCA
And yet another reason to tell Apple and it’s DRM happy lawyers to piss off! I’m switching my iBook to linux as soon as I can get the wireless working. Kubuntu runs fast even off the live CD and is fairly comfortable to work with. If/when they get the airport card working I am wiping the drive and moving to Linux land. Course since I haven’t replaced the failing drive yet (quit using the laptop till I can find/afford a BIG drive) when I do get the new one I suspect it will never have an apple os on it.
Boing Boing: HOWTO resist warrantless searches at Best Buy
Will have to do this if I ever go to WalMart again. The search routine has pissed me off every time it has happened. I can understand their reasoning but I don’t apprecate it and really like the “Am I being detained for shoplifting?” comeback.
The Segway creator’s next entrepreneurial spin – Feb. 16, 2006
If these folks REALLY want to help people and not just line their own pockets even more they should release the plans for these devices under a Creative Commons license and allow the people to build their own for personal/village use.
How Police States Emerge | Bayosphere
“When the chief, the members of his force and all elected officials in Houston agree to have cameras installed in their homes — and their own lives saved in detail for snoops to check on later — feel free to take this wannabe tinpot dictator’s admonition seriously.”
Amen, Dan!
Policing Porn Is Not Part of Job Description
But it is another step toward a totally controled and regulated 1984ish society. Glad the librarian stood up to the idiots!

“If you’re not doing anything wrong, why should you worry about it?” Hurtt told reporters.
Seems like I remember a simular line from George Orwell’s 1984. This mindset is just a little scary.
Just hooked up an old scanner that has been kicking around since we got my mother another one. Wouldn’t work on the mac iBook but seems to work fine under pclinuxos. True plug and play, which this scanner (HP ScanJet 3300c) wasn’t under windows or not on the machines that we have tried it on. Always had to dl drivers from the site.
