Apple’s Decision to Use Intel Processors Is Nothing Less Than an Attempt to Dethrone Microsoft. Really.
Me thinks Cringely has something here. Not sure what but something. The Intel/Apple merger makes sense in a kind of twisted way. And Jobs has shown in the past that he has large brass, or possibly cast iron, balls. So… Guess we wait and see what the near future brings.

This dude has carved an entire house with furnishings to look like books. Go. Look. Marvel. Wonder why? Guess tis the old demon, Art…
MoCo Loco: Stitch Kit
Stitched chairs and lamps.
“Functional objects in three dimensions using sewing techniques” from Nel, a group of independent designers based in Mexico City. Starting with a 2D graphical representation of a chair, or lamp, a functional 3D object is built using sewing techniques.
This is some interesting stuff though I think they need to redesign for comfort a bit more on the arms. The website at http://www.nel.com.mx/ sucks. Seems to be one page with flash showing the products. If there is more there I didn’t find it. No pricing or product info. There is contact info.
Wired News: Legal Pot’s No Pipe Dream
“Supposedly that’s what everyone wants — that this issue should be solved through science rather than through politics and that’s what we’re saying as well,” Doblin said. “The problem is, when we try to do the science we find out the government is not really that interested in solving the issue through science.”
Imagine that…

States’ rights — it’s not just for racists any more.
Just as we now consider barbaric the tradition of human sacrifice by priests at the ancient Inca temples who cut the hearts out of their own innocent worshippers, anthropologists of the future will surely declare that the Supreme Court’s decision on medical marijuana was incredibly inhumane. The war on drugs is really a war on some people who use some drugs.
Bookbinding – a photoset on Flickr
In depth photos but no text. Nice!
Wall Street Journal Pats Self on Back | Bayosphere
I think Dan hits it right on the head here. I noted when watching the Keynote where Jobs made the sly little dig at the Wall Street Journal and wondered at the time why he didn’t credit it to CNet.
If Apple doesn’t file suit against any of the “official” news agencies I won’t be surprised. I (personally) think they need to drop all of the suits they are in now against the proApple blogs and websites. This disregard of freedom of speech on Apple Legal’s part is the reason I am looking at linux again for my own purposes.
Clinkscales Family Reunion May 7 2005
For any that may be interested the Clinkscales 2005 Family Reunion pix are now up.
Actually been up since the evening of the day of the reunion but getting the info on some of the folks took a few days and then I forgot to update it once Cat got the data and then finely got around to putting the software to do the photo albums the easy way on Cats machine and then the comments that we had put into iPhoto on my machine didn’t move when she imported the pix (which pisses me off) so Cat had to copy and paste them from the webpage back into the album on her machine and then export and reupload it all. But tis done and done and done again but one last time for good measure.
I tried make the sentence above a bit longer but I got lost. 😉
Techdirt:Did Steve Jobs Pull An Osborne?
Didn’t know the name for it but while watching the keynote last night with Cat, I turned to here and said “Guess I won’t get that Mini Mac after all”.
Still got a few old machines lying around that I keep planning on getting up and running with linux but as the laptop is able to do everything I need, I just haven’t bothered.
2007 sounds like a good year to be saving up to buy a new Mac laptop in.
LWN: Yellow Dog Linux sticks with PowerPC
Love how less than 24 hours after Apple told the world that they are changing to x89 based processors and that they have been testing and building toward this for 5 years that these companies are making these snap off the cuff remarks to get their 2 cents into the spotlight (bloglight?).
Or it could just be gas…

A recent experience in CompUSA led me to write this article. In a nutshell, I was treated about 7 levels above Rude by a sales clerk at a particular CompUSA location.
This dude is funny! I love his way of making sure the store knows they screwed up…
