Laptop Hard Drive Repair Success
Just a quick post to say to Steve that this post is being written on a machine using the damaged hard drive. Got the latest and greatest pclos distro and after a fairly short time installing and then a LONG time finding a good ethernet card seems to be working fine. Am upgrading it to the most current software now. So it will come back to you with pclos preloaded. You’ll have to configure some of it but it should work. And the drive seems to be fine now… 😉

Excellent! For now, you can keep it, if you wish. The only place I have to put it at the moment is Aaron’s machine, and I am a little spooky about moving that drive around for some reason….I have your dinero for the Zip drive also, along with Pete’s thanks. I’ll try to get it by very soon–was going to today, but had some minor medical issues come up and couldn’t make it. Will e-mail you later and explain.
Nice to know you can (still!) correct my f**k ups. Most of the time, at least….not that I ever doubted.
With the components of the stuff you are breaking now small enough that I am having to wear a pair of 2.5 power reading glasses and using my 3 power binocular magnifiers to be able to see the print and bits I have to solder, I’m having doubts enough for us both. 😉
Should be within Skype distance should you need to get me. I have a temp wifi link to the other trailer right now and am trying to keep skype up for calls and such. Also keeping an IM up with depatty@fake-hotmail.com up…
