Looks like the Barbie lawsuit may have been a advertisement for the artist.  Matel says no lawsuit planned.

Boing Boing: Wonderful hippopotamus service

This is awsome!

Hippo dinner ware

Dude commisioned a 144 piece set.  All costs ended setting him back $400K.  One hell of an art collection!

Dr. Megavolt

Looks like a birdcage on his head.  This and the next have huge originals which show some interesting detail.  The next one shows him lighting a neon lamp while taking a 6 foot or so strike while on the stool.  I bet dollars to donuts that the stool is a good insulator!

BTW - I would LOVE to do this!

Never Was Haul

This thing is wonderful.  There is a large pix on flicker at the link above that shows good detail.  There is a previous post here somewhere for the Tribe site that built it.  Wish there were inside pix of it but this is better detail than I have seen yet.  The same guy has a good pix of the Case Steam engine that they use to move it with.  Tis the next or the previous from the link.  Good Stuff!

MAKE: Blog: HOW TO - Make a hand cranked document shredder

Start with an old broken shredder, cut, weld, attach handle, attach brackets, attach under bench, shred.  Not quite a from scratch project but not bad at all.  Seems like I have an old shredder around here somewhere that has a burned out motor… ;-)

Cascajal Stone Tablet

Saved from being roadfill. Tis one of the coolest things I have seen in a while. Basic but fairly good article. The picture above doesn’t show the impressions very well but the drawing below does.

Boing Boing: Microsoft Zune won’t play purchased Microsoft media files

Not only Viral DRM but won’t play their own files. Now this is just REAL STUPID!  Is SCO running the R&D department for Micro$loth now?

So they not only introduced a new av player but Viral DRM at the same time.  Total stupidity.  But it IS Micro$loth… :-(

DeLi Linux

Lightweight Linux distro for old machines.  Site says that they have a 486 with 16 meg of ram running all apps smoothly.  That is COOL!

Downloading it now and will try it on my ex-gateway machine which I have forgotten the specs for… ;-)

WWdN: In Exile: Apple gave me back all my lost music, free of charge

Well looks like at least one Apple employee reads Will’s blog, as after the last posting he was contacted and allowed to redownload his purchased music.  Good to read that he got it all back, but I will still not buy from or in any way support a company that uses DRM on files.  Just ain’t gonna do it…

This is scary, but overall sounds to be right in line with so many other stories about out of control airline security personal world wide.  Stupid, stupid, stupid!

Techdirt: Microsoft Brags That Vista Will Be A Burden To European Companies

It’s amazing how a company can make so many stupid moves and folks still bow and scrape to them.  Microsloth is now saying that the new Vista will require 55k new support jobs in the EU and this is supposed to be good news?

Idiots!  Use FOSS and tell them where to stick their bug ridden virus sucking closed software!  And laugh at them all the way to the bank…

Technorati working - kinda, maybe, somewhat

Friday, September 15th, 2006

But not right.  Showing 4 posts with listings of the word Technorati and there are now 21 if I am counting correctly.  So looks to me like the great and wonderful is not either great or wonderful but buggy and not doing what it is susposed to do.    Maybe once in the top 100K list indexing is better but it should be the same for all.

Cat’s Calcis blog is not listed at all and it is set up just like the others we have that are.   Me thinks that there are lots of bugs in their system as of yet…
