Andy Ihnatko’s YellowText

Andy points to a wonderful Gutenberg etext by P.G. Wodehouse, which is one of his Jeeves books that has no US copyright.  Wonderful stuff!

Chapter 4: Read Excerpts from the New Science Fiction Book Variable Star by Robert Heinlein and Spider Robinson

Chapter 4 is out!  Getting better all the time.  Something in the flavor makes me wonder if this was written/started around the time of The Door Into Summer?

Chapter 5 due Sept 7.  Can’t wait!

Treehugger: Living Like a Hobbit. Small House, Travel & Adventures
I’ve read about Dan Price before but there is a lot more available now. Lynette Chlang has written an article on meeting him and visiting his place in the woods.  Good stuff and sound like really good people.

Where Babies Come From in Germany

This seems to be a childrens book that has been scanned and put online.  Shows just what the title says.  Actually not limited to Germany.  Probably not safe for work and most of the tight assed folks I know around here wouldn’t let their kids see it either but is an interesting look at another (non US of A) culture.

Official Google Blog: Download the classics

I know it has been posted elsewhere (everywhere) but I figured I would jump on the byte wagon and list this one too.  Glad to see it.  Now if they would link up with and/or help fund Project Gutenberg  I’d be a lot happier with them about this.

Rudy says that Flurb #1 is now done. More info at his blog.

Congrats on a excelent piece of work! Hope to see many more issues. Only problem I have with you publishing it online is that I keep spending my time reading when there is so much more to do… ;-)

THE MACHINE STOPS … E.M. Forster

THE MACHINE STOPS … E.M. Forster

Sci-fi story from 1909 that is the earliest known (to me) predictor of email/IMs and a world wide machine. Well worth the read.
