Technorati Blog Info: TechnoPrimitive

Another monday and as they are showing “Updated: 55 days ago” about Technoprimitive.org, still no joy from Technorati.    Guess I am a non-entity or person nongrata with them or have made it to their blocked list somehow. Wish they would let me know something but untill they do I will keep making these little unhappy posts about them ignoring my site…

Inside Your Notebook’s Battery: Ordinary AA Li-Ion Cells

Just got a note from Steve about this link and noted that the author has posted a correction on the site. So if you missed it the first time you get another chance. If you read it the first time go and read it again to see the correct info.  Good read!

Thanks Steve!

Wired News: The Ultimate Blog Post

It’s hard to improve on perfection so here’s Steve’s morning email pointing to  Wired News: The Ultimate Blog Post:
Since I’m too lazy at the moment (and have chipotle sauce on my hands from my Subway sandwich, also) I just hit reply, and here is another one that I found amusing:

http://www.wired.com/news/columns/0,71720-0.html?tw=wn_index_3

For your blog it would be, I guess:

Technoprimitive: Mud-oven baked pizza tasted great for all the soft-BB warriors as we plotted the overthrow of the Bush administration before the Republican-funded yellow jacket/mutant sub-woofer attack ruined all of our plans. A bamboo litter was used to remove the wounded. (Click to see close up of connections and knots)

Thanks for the mind movies, Steve! 😉

Hand Papermaking in Central Burma and Northern Thailand

Hand Papermaking in Central Burma and Northern Thailand
Bamboo Straw Paper

From the rice straw papermaking village of Nyang Gone, it is a short oxen’s or bullock’s ride to the bamboo straw papermaking village of Daung Ma, which means “pea hen.” Three families currently make this specialized paper in this village. U Htun Shwe’s family demonstrated the papermaking process. The procedure to produce bamboo straw paper is similar to the methods used to make rice straw paper, but a meticulous and methodical approach is necessary for good results. The material is gathered locally before six months of age when a hollow cavity will begin to form in the center of the stalk. It is cut between the nodes, the outer “bark. is stripped, and splints are made of the material. The pithy inner core is not used for papermaking.

The splints ret in lime and water for three to six years. There are fewer and fewer families making this paper, yet there is a steady demand for it. in an effort to satisfy the need, the resting time is sometimes shortened. After the resting time has elapsed, the bamboo will be cooked in boiling water for a day and a half. Afterwards, the fibers are splayed by pounding with a wooden hammer on a rock.

Next comes the very precise and tedious beating process done by hand for one hundred fifty hours. One batch of pulp, approximately one pound, produces twelve, two by four foot sheets.

This is some time and labor intensive paper.  The article goes into 4 different papers and methods of making paper by hand.  Paper making is another thing I want to try that I most likely wont ever get around to.

This is some of the most overpriced weird stuff I have ever run across. One example is the 6 pack of black toilet paper for only 22.95 + shipping.  Course it is French… 😉

Forgive me, Starbucks, for I have sinned

John Bailey is always a good read.  On his off days it’s still a pleasant break just to see a bit inside a life not my own in a country I have never been to.  On his good days he’s wonderful.  This post is one of the good ones.  He confronts Starbucks personal concerning their ultra stupid rule about not allowing customers to use cameras within their establishment.  Damn good advertising for the other folks Starbucks! Me hat’s off to ya John.

Boing Boing: EMI wants millions and your IP address in revenge for Beachles

A damn good reason to boycott EMI!  Asshats!

Wonder if anyone has boycottemi.com yet? Yep, looks like EMI owns it. They also own boycott-emi.com, boycottemi.org, boycott-emi.org but boycott-emi.net and boycottemi.net are both open should someone want to go at them.

A comment with a title like “Are you there?” is NOT going to get approved

By , September 8, 2006 6:07 pm

The comment spammers are now using stuff like:

Are you there?…

All the darkness in the world cannot put out the smallest candle. The darker it is, more brightly shines the candle. instead of complaining about the dark search for your candle. Believe me; It exists…

To try to get comments by the spam cops but all of the comments that are made here are either caught by Akismet (which is a WordPress plugin that uses a central database to track and catch spam, cool idea and well apprecated here for sure) or by me as I have to approve all of the comments whether made by friend or foe before they see the light of the cpu on your end.  Wish they would all quit with this crap but somehow someone is making money off of this.

July 18 was day Technorati quit indexing Technoprimitive.org

By , September 8, 2006 12:36 pm

Obligitory Technorati is still not taking pings from Technoprimitive.org post of the day…

Got to looking at the dates that Technorati is STILL showing as my last post on here and after doing a bit of math:

31 days in august
+
8 days so far in sept
=
39 total august and sept

52 Number of days since Technorati says blog updated

39 total of aug and sept
= leaving
13 in july

31 total number of days in july

13 number of days in july not updated
=
18 july is day Technorati quit accepting update pings from TechnoPrimitive

So I went to the July archive and found that the last thing posted before it quit updating was Russell Shaw: in fight against terrorists, popcorn factories more dangerous than uninspected container ships which was on July 15. The next thing I posted was on the 19 and was wiat-tv-42 so…

No site updates at that time unless it was something done by my host. And still no response or fix by Technorati.

So now back to my regularly unscheduled posting…

Update: Received the expected…

Ivory Liquid Porn

By , September 7, 2006 11:40 pm

I am, as of before this post, in the number 9 position on Google.com for Ivory Liquid Porn. This is due to a post about the fragrance problem I have with the new improved Ivory Liquid and then the next post about the nude alphabet where I state that it isn’t porn but not safe for work. Weird. Wonder if now with this post I get to # 1? 😉 I found this looking at the search terms that led folks to this site. Neat huh?

Update 2006-09-10: the actual term is “Ivory Liquid” porn and I am now in the number 6 spot.  So Steve is right – kinda.  96 or 69 or somewhere along those lines. 😉
