Beyond Pollution, Inc. – AirTap Water Heater Add-On

Interesting concept.  Would have to see more info from some independent testing labs before investing that kind of money into an add on to a standard water heater.

Powered by a Changfa diesel engine.  Interesting engine conversion. Note the belt drive.

I can see a huge retrofit market for this product.  And a large DIY market as well.

Architectural Wind: Clean Energy, Birds Like It, Too – Gizmodo

I like!  The design and the concept are both excelent.   What limited specs are given look good too.  Wonder what the lifespan is?  Is it designed to be easily onsite repairable or at least component replaceable?  What’s the cost?  Does it come with a syncronus (sp?) inverter?  AC or DC? Tomato or Tomoto? 😉

Plasma Power Systems – How the Plasma Power System Works

Somewhat simplistic but at least gives a basic understanding of how it works. Trash to gas and power.  Cool!

Ice the size of Texas melts in one year – earth – 26 September 2006 – New Scientist
May be this is Earth’s way of telling President George W. Bush that global warming cannot be ignored: in just one year, the perennial sea ice cover in the Arctic Ocean has shrunk by nearly three-quarters of a million square kilometres, an area comparable to that of Bush’s home state of Texas.

But will he bother listening.  After all he makes it all up anyway… 🙁

This makes a LOT of sense.  I have wondered for years why this type of ocean transport wasn’t more common. Guess the tech is catching up.

Deep-sea oil rigs inspire MIT designs for giant wind turbines – MIT News Office

Interesting concept.  Though I wonder if tidal or wave energy wouldn’t be better use than wind.  Though as the article states the wind that far off shore (100 miles) will  be much more constant.

Bluegill, canary of the water system.  Interesting use of fish.  And reasonable.  But wait till PETA gets involved…

Scientists study ways to safeguard water

Really bad example of a reporter or editor rewriting what was said.  Scientest says to reduce waters loses to evaporation store water underground, headline says scientest calls for letting water run into the ground. Maybe I am just having a bad day but this is just stupid reporting…

The Top 10 Foods to Eat Organically

This is a real good news/bad news thing.  The most used foods have the highest pestiside levels.  These are some of them and a selection of foods to replace them.

JS Online:The hog that hums

Electric Harley.  The part I have trouble with here is the 560 pounds of lead acid batteries in the frame.  And the exposed belt drive coming out the side.  And the uglyness (sp?) of the beast.  That much weight, build a trike…

L-Box Carrier

Never seen these before, and I don’t understand why they aren’t everywhere, other than the cost. One of the stories quoted a cost (my price translation from english pounds to us dollars may be off) of around $2,000.00 for a kid carrier version. None the less, these are wonderful! I’m gonna have to build one or more along these lines for use around here.

Very good reuse of old rail cars.  Would like to see more pictures of the process as they modify them into studio and work space.

Looks like the internet strikes again.  Seems that the folks that prosucated the kids for stealing vegies meant for a pig farm have had a change of heart.  Course they are not available for comment… 😉

Treehugger: Is it Art Or an Environmental Statement?

It’s called shelter. The most basic of human needs. While I admire the art in the work/building he is doing, I think admire folks that live that way more.
