Dutch Oven Grill
Needed a table to use with the dutch ovens so got to looking at an old propane grill that had already been gutted and used as a charcoal grill. Checked the fit of the 14″ DO and it just fit. Removed the plastic side shelves/tables and replaced with 2 pieces I cut from a metal shelf. Found 2 broiler tops and with minor modifications screwed them to the inside of the grill body. Put a metal box underneath the catch ashes and plan to test it out this afternoon/evening. Next will be a shelf on the bottom to store the ovens and accessories. I think it will serve well, and it even fits into the camper with room left to squeeze past to get to stuff.

Del and Jelly Bean visit Weaver
Del stopped by on his way to Tampa with his teardrop camper, to spend the night, and to let us see his one of a kind creation, the Jelly Bean.
The following pictures were taken Tuesday morning just before he left out heading east for Atlanta before turning south toward Tampa.

The Jelly Bean and Subaru tow vehicle parked by junkyard row at the farm in Weaver Alabama.

Happy Turkey Day To All
Just a quick post to wish all of our faithful readers a Happy Thanksgiving and upcoming Black Friday. 😉
And for those not in the US of A who don’t know what Black Friday is, it’s the worst shopping day/day to be out in public of the year… *Update, for real reason for the name see Steve’s explanation in the comments.
Got some stuff to post but it’ll be a day or two (or three or four)(or maybe even five or six) before I get back to it (but I will at some point in the future)(really I will)(and soon)(ish).

Wiring hell
Been doing wiring and trying to finish up the kitchen. Still got bits of both to do but getting closer. Put in a bunch of outlets and still got at least 3 more to go. Got to take the couch/bed plywood off to get to where I can do them though. Should have waited till the end to put the frame in. Will know better next time. Bottom course of counter is done. Still got to skin the electrical but still got 12 volt stuff that goes in there too. And more smurf conduit to run to the tongue box which I have still got to build. And so on and so forth. On to the pix… 😉

Requiem for a legal disaster: a retrospective analysis of SCO v. Novell: Page 1
For the searchengine impaired this is the link to the article Steve mentioned in his comment on the earlier post about SCO vs Novell. At least this is the one I found after searching for it. Thanks for the pointer Steve.
Still ill
Seems that the earlier patch of feeling better was just a lull in this crap. Back to the head spins and problems breathing. Gonna make a early night of it me thinks and see if I can sleep it off. Of course that is what I have spent most of the week so far doing. Onward and upward as it were…

Bits and pieces 2006-12-29
Been down somewhat with a bug the last few days and doing little as possible. Got out some this afternoon and cut some more cedar 8 foot upright posts and 6 foot headers and one 15 foot rafter and carried them over to the round house. Got a couple of the 8 foot upright posts and one 15 foot rafter cut and carried over to the site yesterday.
After unloading them all, stood one of them up on the (facing the south facing entry way) right side of the door opening and screwed 3 saplings to it to hold it in place while I marked it for height prior to taking back down and cutting to length. Planing to put 3 uprights in place with two connecting headers and then put one primary and 4 secondary rafters in. Will add some bracing to the rafters as well as corner bracing on the uprights and headers. I figure that should secure it enough to add more uprights, headers, and rafters, without needing too much additional temp bracing.
And that was about it for the day. Going to Calcis tomorrow so will be back late.
That’s all folks…
Happy Holidays to All!
Quick note to wish everyone a happy holiday season!
Will be back to our regularly disorginized posting sometime in the near future. 😉

Weekend of War
This weekend is the big Bay of Pigs 2 game here at the Weaver Combat Ranch so postings have been few and far between with us trying to get things ready. Expect nothing post wise from now till it’s all over. 40 + eating and right now the count of players is somewhere around 60 so is gonna be hectic the next few days.

Here’s a scenario that is familiar to anyone who has ever set foot in Wal-Mart, CVS, Rite-Aid, or any of a dozen other major retailers. After you have made a purchase, collected your bags, or packed everything into a shopping cart, you head for the exit. Just as you approach freedom an alarm sounds (usually a sequence of ugly, electronic grunts) and a robotic voice (always female) announces: “Please return to the checkout.†Other customers immediately look in your direction, and an employee begins to approach you. What’s your next move?
Tell them to stuff it and walk out! I love it! Well worth the read. Thanks go to Steve for the link.
