Sunday

Been a hot one today. After another long night last night slept in this morning. Got out mid afternoon and piddled around at the Antique Mall in Jacksonville for a while just to see what was new and to use some one else’s ac. Stopped at the grocery store and then went by my folks house to pick up a 13 inch sears planer my brother had left there for me. Sat and talked for a bit then when the lightening struck near by headed back home. Read a bit then ate and been browsing since. Till tomorrow… 😉

Was indeed a hot one! June in Alabama, I guess. Did church/Sunday school, and gassed up and Wally World, and then went home. The boy and I worked on a piece of “roadkill”–a Dell PIII 933 that was left on the side of the road in Huntsville and found by one of his friends who lives up there. He brought it to us, since we had told him to be on the lookout for such, and we checked it out and it works fine. A little surprising, since what was left of the machine (just the steel case with the top piece of plastic still attached) looked like it had been punted by a NFL kicker–the bottom has a LARGE dent in it. Had to add RAM, HD, and a sound card, but with a 512 stick of PC133 in it it runs Kubuntu just fine. Won’t take two 512 sticks, or two sticks period, with the 512 in there, the other slot always comes up “not initialized” in the BIOS. I guess 512 is the limit for that board (it’s an Intel 815 chipset, and I don’t recall any of those that I have seen taking more than 512 total) and it’s kind of surprising that it will take that much in one slot, but that’s OK–I’ll make something else a Mythbox.

What is a Sears 13″ planner? Do you mean planer, as in a machine that levels the side of a piece of dimensional lumber when you pass it through it? Or is it some kind of just-over-a-foot-wide device/book for entering information about upcoming events? Just wondering–it’s early yet, and it wasn’t until I was typing this that I realized you probably meant planer. I couldn’t figure out WHAT the hell a 13″ planner is…and I could still be wrong….

Well, time to balance the checkbook, pay some bills, and then go make more money to pay more bills. Ain’t life grand? Stay cool.

Yep, planer of the wood leveling kind. Edited the post to show the proper spelling. Thanks, was late when I was writing that and proper spelling is not one of my strong points even on good days when I’m not half asleep.

We’ve got to go pay some bills today too, so I guess I need to get the arse in gear and go fix breakfast and shower and such so we can get at it, as little as I feel like it. But suspect it will be cooler there than here…
