Sitting here looking at the ones going around the tree trunk to the room upstairs, it just occurred to me that the angles between steps are about the same if you were to reverse the sides they were attached to. If that makes any sense. So it would have been safer to my way of thinking to not use the riser backings but to use full width runners with part of each step under the next. Like I did with the one here. And you have to start off with your right foot here coming down. Going up left is easiest to start with.
And there is much rejoicing as he wandered off into the abyss still muttering to himself… 😯 🙄 😉
